Updated resources for Sport and Dance Leadership available now through LEAP In the April Briefing for Centres we informed you that an updated Extraordinary Amended Specification for Sport and Dance Leadership qualifications would be available for courses starting on or after 1st August 2021. We are excited to let you know that the adapted Tutor Resources, Learner Evidence Records* and quality assurance forms are now available to access through LEAP. If you have a course registered with start dates after 1st August, simply login to your LEAP account to your LEAP account to gain access to these. *Centres must apply for a course and confirm learner numbers to be able to access the Learner Evidence Covid-19 principles of change Records. What has changed in the Extraordinary Amended Specifications for 2021/22 The objective for each qualification at every level remains the same – to create Sports Leaders and Dance Leaders that can demonstrate their leadership skills to their community and to realise their potential. We have taken the decision to continue to offer Extraordinary Amended Specifications for 2021/22. Important information These remain largely the same as those offered this year, but the demonstration of leadership hours is changing to align with changes we have made to qualifications outside of Scotland. The changes in leadership hours will improve the overall learning experience for learners. The following table summarises the changes that have been made. Click here to remind yourself of what has changed. Qualification Demonstration of leadership hours required for courses with start dates between 1st August 2021 and 31st July 2022 Level 4 1 hour Level 5 5 hours Level 6 2 hours of event leadership 12 hours of leadership made up of: 4 hours in the learner’s community 8 hours leading activities to at least two of children, older people or disabled people 2/6 Briefing Briefing for Centres for October Centres 2019

Reminder: Quality Assurance Review for summer 2021 certification Many of you have already completed your Quality Assurance Review this year and your learners have been awarded certificates as a result. Thank you and well done for completing your courses during the disruption experienced over the past year. There are still many Centres that are yet to either claim certificates through LEAP for completed courses or to respond to requests from the SLQ Sports Leaders Quality Assurance Team to organise you Quality Assurance Review. Quality Assurance Review availability is limited in July and priority is being given to Centres with Level 3 courses due to the UCAS points deadline. It is likely that Quality Assurance Reviews for Centres with Level 1 and 2 courses (and Levels 4, 5 and 6 in Scotland) that require certification will now take place in August or September. If you have been contacted by a member of the team, please respond so we can plan in your Quality Assurance Review as soon as possible. If you have completed all the requirements of the course and have not been contacted by the team, please claim your certificates via LEAP and we will contact you with further instructions. Not going to complete your course(s) before 31st July 2021 as intended? Please email contact@sportsleaders.org to request a change to your course end date. Simply: 1. Start your message with ‘End date change request’ in the subject line 2. List the courses you need end dates changing on 3. Give the new end dates you would like to change them to Note: Learners names and dates of births must be registered on courses to allow a change to course end dates. 4/6 Briefing for Centres Briefing October for 2019 Centres
Register your 2021/22 Courses and Receive Free Learner Evidence Records (LERs) After a year of changes, adaptations and restrictions, we’re sure that you will be looking ahead to the new academic year more than ever, ready to hit the ground running in 2021/22. As we move towards the completion of this academic year and start thinking about next year, now is a great time to be planning ahead, so we wanted to let you know that we will again this year be offering FREE PRINTED Learner Evidence Records (LERs), delivered directly to you for all 2021/22 courses registered with learner numbers before Friday 23rd July. LERs play an essential role in supporting learners with the completion of their courses and the development of their skills, providing them with a demonstrable portfolio of their progress and affirming their work by highlighting their success. Over the past 12 months, we’ve updated and adapted our qualifications and LERs to ensure they reflect the world in which we now live, including creating a series of Learner Support Challenges to help them stay connected with learning and skill development. To find out more about this offer and to register your interest in receiving FREE LERs for your Sports and Dance Leadership Qualifications in 2021/22, click here.
