THE PULSE 3 December 2020 Term 4 Week 9 Newsletter MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL The end of the year is almost here and there are many exciting preparations being made to celebrate student achievements and farewell our amazing Year 6 class. I have been particularly impressed with our Year 6 students this year. They have raised the bar in setting the standard for outstanding manners, leadership, behaviour and endeavour. As a school, we will be very sad to see our senior students leave and I know all staff and students will miss Jessica, Hunter, Layla, Gracie, Aisha, Amalia, Nicole and Matilda. I would like to also acknowledge our Year 6 parents; you deserve a huge pat on the back for supporting these exceptional young people and we wish them every blessing and success for the future. Our Year 6 students are excited to celebrate the completion of primary schooling with a Graduation Dinner tonight. As you are aware, our Closing Service has been modified due to COVID-19. Next Monday 7 December, we will film the Closing Service which will include the Year 6 students receiving their certificates, the announcement of the 2021 School Captains and recipients of the Scholarships and Citizenship Awards. All families will be sent the film as soon as it has been edited via the Seesaw app, just like the Chapels during remote learning. Our Swimming Carnival last Friday was a great success. Congratulations to all students who participated and tried their very best. It was a real highlight to see students go in as many events as possible and encourage one another. Many thanks to Mrs Megan Alexander for all her hard work in organising the day, finalising events and coordinating the program for the day. Congratulations to those students who achieved age group championship medallions. Students in Years 3-6 enjoyed a wonderful experience of visiting the Halls Gap Zoo last Thursday. There were many highlights including the giraffes, bison, wombats and albino kangaroos. Please note special events that are happening next week: ☺ Next Monday 9 December is the filming of Closing Service. All students are to wear Summer uniform. ☺ Tuesday 8 December is Transition Day and students will spend time with their 2021 classes and teachers. Sports uniform can still be worn. ☺ On Wednesday 9 December we are having a FUN day at school and celebrating the end of 2020. Students will need to wear their Sports uniform and bring a spare change of clothes (neat casual). A separate note has been sent home with more details including a permission form that will need to be returned by next Tuesday. ☺ Thursday 10 December is the last day of school. Students can wear casual clothes with a Christmas theme. School will finish at the normal time of 3.15pm. I would like to thank all parents for their ongoing support and partnership in their child’s education at our school. It certainly has been an interesting year and we have all had to face many challenges. I have been impressed with how many parents have focused on the positives with COVID remote learning. Students, parents and staff had to learn new skills and adapt very quickly. With so many opportunities of being together having to be postponed due to COVID, I am so thankful that we were able to celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary in March. It certainly was a highlight alongside having all our students back to onsite learning! SALVATION ARMY HAMPERS Yesterday all families should have received a letter from the Salvation Army giving you an opportunity to apply for a hamper from the Salvation Army for Christmas. Please look out for that, all forms need to be returned to the Salvation Army by tomorrow, 4 December.

CELEBRATE THE GIFT “Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.” Psalm 90:2 (NLT) I am eternal. Forever.
