HANMER SPRINGS Gavins Logging Senior A team Hawarden hosted the finals day of netball for 2018 and put on a warm sunny day. The Senior A team was play- ing off for 3rd and 4th in the A grade competition against Culverden Red. Hanmer took to the court with great team spirit and were out for a fun game to end the sea- son. From the starting whistle Hanmer asserted its dominance with great flow throughout the court and excellent feeding by Zoey Cuff and Sarah Currie into on form shooters Kelly Rutherford and Bobby Childs. Ex- cellent defence in the goal circle by Emily Shaw and Jaz Cuff and some outstanding through court defence by Kendall Bond ensured that Hanmer made many turnovers. Some changes in positions in the third and fourth quarters saw Jo Murphy and Kirsty Gavin take to the court and the team continued to dominate and grow on its strong lead. Great to see every member of the team out there for our final game. Unfortunately a broken finger in a rep game last Sunday meant that one of our star shooters Melissa Buschl-Smith was relegat- ed to the sideline for our final game but her encour- agement and guiding of shooters and players on court was heard from the sidelines. Player of the Day went to Bobby Childs for consistency and stepping up on court and leading the younger players especially in the goal MAHS Trust (Music & Arts circle. Final score 43-26 to Hanmer. There, the hive could be opened and the bees would be free to buzz around without hurting anyone. Paucton did, and he soon became a preeminent figure of the French beekeeping set, selling his homemade honey in the theatre’s gift shop alongside souvenir keychains and recordings of “Carmen.” Although he packed up his Opéra rooftop hives in 2013, he seems to have helped make beekeeping on the roofs of Paris landmarks a bit of a thing. Since then, Parisian beekeepers, or apiculteurs, have quietly kept hundreds of hives on the rooftops of some of the most famous buildings in Paris—often without the general public knowing anything about it. The Opéra Garnier, the Musée d’Orsay, the École Militaire, Notre Dame, the Grand Palais, and the Institut de France are just a handful of major monuments where area beekeepers raise their colonies. Privately owned buildings, such as the famed jewellery store Boucheron and La Tour d’Argent (the restaurant that claims to have introduced the fork to the French), also allow beekeepers to practice their métier, or job, on their roofs.
