One day event at Camp Galilee in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. • VBS In church VBS activities on Wednesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 29 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then on Friday, July 30 will be a family picnic at 6 p.m. at the Butler Municipal Park and a private pool party at the Butler Aquatic Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. BUILDING FUND DRIVE The Stewardship Committee is having a building fund drive. There are many repairs that need to be made to our church. This year we are concentrating on the following repairs: • Repair the north wall of the Fellowship Hall • Repair the north wall of the Sanctuary Goal: $40,000 Volume 61, Issue 7—July 2021—Page 5
First Christian Church Board Meeting Minutes June 13, 2021 Board members present: Deacons-Jennifer Schmehl, Kathy Wood, Gary Coffman, Dale Kinsman, Dianna Silvers, Chuck Lewis, Carol Lewis, and Judy Colburn. Elders-Diana Rich, Carol Roberts, Don Malan, Justin Quick, and Shawn Quick. Others present: Rev. Sharla Hulsey, and Carol Ann Winburn. Don Malan, Chair, called the meeting to order at 10:32 AM. He then opened with prayer. After review, the agenda was adopted on motion of Kathy Wood and second by Diana Rich. The minutes of the 05-16-2021 regular board meeting were reviewed. The minutes were approved as presented on motion of Shawn Quick and second by Jennifer Schmehl. Financial Reports: The May financial reports including Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Budget Performance sheets as of 05-31-2021 were reviewed, as well as all end-of-the-year numbers. Income in May $9,592.33 Total Expenses in May $7,505.87. The financial reports were approved as presented on motion of Shawn Quick and second by Diana Rich . Full reports are available in the church office. Ministers’ Report: Rev. Hulsey reviewed her attached report. She noted visits, meetings, conversations, and official activities she has been involved in. She continues to do the morning prayers every day on Facebook Live. She noted her next D. Min. class will be virtual the week of June 21-25, and she will be off Sunday, June 27th and Shawn Quick will fill the pulpit that day. She noted she has been re-elected president of the Ministerial Alliance for the coming year. Old Business: Computer Use at Home for Worship Slide Preparation: This will be resolved as necessary by Rev. Hulsey and Phyllis McBrayer with no further action needed by the board. DSWA training for FCC Administrative Assistant: Training has been completed and Lyssa Lyle is now writing checks. Her job description has not been updated yet. This will be referred to the Personnel Committee Chair, John Daniel. New Business: VBS: Carol Roberts reported VBS dates have been set as follows: in church VBS activities on Wednesday July 28 and Thursday July 29. The committee would like to have a family picnic at the Butler Park and then a private pool party at the Butler Aquatic Center from 7 to 9. She noted the cost of the pool party will be approximately $300. She ask if the cost of the pool party could be taken from the “Restricted Funds-Youth Activities, camp, mission”. She noted the balance in that fund is $4,938. This was approved on motion of Justin Quick and second by Dale Kinsman. Department/Committee Reports: Procedural Document Review-Update: Carol Roberts reported this committee has been meeting and will continue to look at the functions, duties, and responsibilities of all FCC departments and committees. She ask that the chair of each department/committee prepare a list of this information and get to her by July 1st if possible. Property: Chuck Lewis reported there continues to be problems with moisture on the north wall of the sanctuary due to leaking of the roof along that area. He noted one contractor is to come by and provide an estimate. Rev. Hulsey noted that a bid has been received from Sisk. More bids will continue to be requested. Closing Prayer: Rev. Hulsey closed the meeting with prayer. Adjournment: With no further business brought to the board, the meeting adjourned at 10:56 AM on motion of Justin Quick and second by Carol Roberts.
