Page 3 The Divot April 2021 issue 4 Hello to all, Just a few words from the Food and Beverage dept: The golf season is upon us, that means weather is changing. I hope you have been enjoying the amenities of the CC. With our membership full, it presents a lot of possibilities, as well as hurdles. Covid-19 has been a silent spectator for us to deal with for over a year now. After a full year of this, the restrictions on the Food and Beverage dept has become less stringent. What does that actually mean to you as members, well, it means we can have larger gatherings, but, still not up to capacity. We ask you to call and make reservations when you know that you are coming. We still have to limit the number of people at tables to 10. We still where masks and remain socially distant and clean and wipe like there is no tomorrow. We are currently planning a Kentucky derby party. This event will have limited seating, check in on it with the Clubster app. The next event on the calendar would be Mother’s Day brunch. We are currently planning on how to do this safely, effectively, and efficiently. We will be finalizing details on the brunch and will update you through the Club- ster app. There will be limited food service on Easter Sunday. We are serving brunch until 3:00 in the afternoon. All day long, we will have Country Club wraps with house chips avail- able. The kitchen will not be open at all Easter Sunday. The lunch menu is currently under revision and should be put into play the first week of April. The dinner menu is being offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings on- ly, with dinner specials each night. We look forward to the golf season and seeing all of you that have been hibernating. And remember the pool opens Memorial weekend. We also have a wine event scheduled for April 22. Please check with Megan Peterson for details and reservations. Also the patio tables and chairs have been put out for you to enjoy outdoor dining and just a relaxing cocktail. Thank you, Jeff Hiel
Page 4 The Divot April 2021 issue 4 Greetings from the Golf Shop We are officially open for play!! The driving range is now open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the next week or so and we will expand hours once mother nature allows. The golf course is open to walking each day once the frost is gone. We will get carts going as soon as the course can accommodate the traffic. For our second year in a row we have opened be- fore our target date of April 1st. The course looks as though it wintered well, and the greens look to be in excellent shape for the 2021 golf season. Tee times can be made through the Clubster Mobile App., the gmcchelena.com website or by calling the pro shop. We expect to be very busy once the weather improves so I would encourage everyone to make tee times if you plan to play. Tod recently sent our GMCC Club Policies attached to an email regarding the opening of the golf course. Please take a moment to review. We have had quite a few dress code issues this winter so please read that section of the policies. Our tee time policy states that you can re- serve a time up to 7 days in advance so if you are planning to play, we again encourage mem- bers to book tee times. Our pace of play is one of the benefits of being at Green Meadow. Please continue to allow faster players and groups to play through while maintaining a pace of 4 hours or less for 18 holes. On busier days you may see Golf Shop Staff out on the course to help maintain our pace. April 14th is our scheduled start date for men’s league. We are anticipating a very large turn- out on Wednesdays so please be sure to book your tee times in advance. Due to the large number of participants we will be requiring groups to make tee times each week rather than booking a time for the duration of the league season. We will block select times for men’s league only play on Wednesdays until 12:00 p.m. the day of. If those times are not booked by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, we will at that time open those spots for the general member- ship. We will continue with our format from last season. There will be weekly events with closest to the pin and deuce pot competitions. This season we will also keep our formats to a max of 4 players. This will aid in us being able to stay within our pace of play guidelines. We will post each format a week in advance as well as send results the day following play. Ladies leagues are scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 4th. The previous Tuesday, April 27th, the club will be hosting the Ladies Spring Fling. This is a great opportunity to meet new playing
Page 5 The Divot April 2021 issue 4 This is a great opportunity to meet new playing partners and to get some information on both the morning and evening leagues. Keep an eye out for an email with a Spring Fling invi- tation. The golf staff will be present to outline some special programs we have scheduled for the 2021 season. The morning league will play 18 holes each Tuesday morning beginning the 4th of May while the evening league will play 9 holes each Tuesday afternoon/evening. This year the evening league has decided to use a hybrid tee time format. The first Tuesday of each month with be a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start scramble, while the remainder of the Tues- day’s will be tee times with a different format each week. Linda Cockhill is our Ladies League President while Lena Havron and Sara Dobbins are the organizers of the evening league. They will be taking over for Susan Lagerquist for the 2021 season. Susan has been a great ambassador for the ladies evening league for many years and we would like to thank her for all her time and effort in growing the league. Our tournament schedule is just about finalized. We will send a copy of the schedule once we have all dates confirmed. Our first club event will be the annual Moose Milk Tournament, Sunday, May 2nd. We will also be hosting a club DEMO Day on April 30th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Callaway, Cobra, Taylor Made, Ping and Cleveland/Srixon will be present. We will be scheduling fitting times for those that want to spend some time with our professional staff and representatives from the manufacturers. We are officially open, so we hope to see everyone on the course and driving range. Keep an eye on Clubster and your email for more information regarding upcoming events. Here’s to a great 2021 golf season. Respectfully, Chad Carlson, PGA

Page 7 The Divot April 2021 issue 4 April 1, 2019 FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER What a start to the golfing year! The mild temperatures have allowed us to open the golf course earlier than our typical April 1st date. The course is in great shape for spring conditions. I look forward to seeing everyone back out at the club enjoying the facility. We will still be following Lewis and Clark County Covid- 19 restrictions. We will be changing our restrictions as more people become vaccinated and our county cases continue to decline. It is our goal for everyone to be safe and to feel safe at our club. Our Annual Meeting of the Members is scheduled for May 3rd at 6:00 p.m. We will be going over a 2020 financial review, capital spending, simulator, membership status and changes, dues, food and beverage, and a question-and-answer period to address membership concerns. This is your opportunity to meet GMCC staff and your elected Board of Directors. Hope to see you here on Monday, May 3rd. Green Meadow Country Club and SMA Architects have partnered together to create a building master plan. We have taken information from our surveys to come up with ideas to improve your social and dining expe- rience inside and on the west patio. SMA architects have created a virtual rendition of what this club could look like with a few changes and how it could function better for member enjoyment. We will be having a presentation of the proposed future changes on April 6th. SMA will be at the club presenting our ideas be- tween 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., or a zoom option from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Each time slot will be limited to 40 people. Please email me or call me at 442-5750 ext. 122 to reserve your spot. We will keep you informed with more information and a reminder next week. Membership interest in our club is still growing. Currently our membership is full, and we have a waiting list to join. If you know of anyone who would like to get on the waiting list, please contact April or me. Again, thank you for your patience. Just a reminder that minimum spending obligations were reinstituted on January 1, 2021. Please contact April if you would like to make changes to your minimum spending. April has also asked me to include the following in my divot article: “This is just a reminder to please send me a picture so I can add it to your ac- count on our software system. Also, the member directory will be completed by the end of the month so please let me know what you want, if anything, eliminated from the directory. AG” Please respond to April’s request if you haven’t done so already. “No matter how good you get, you can always get better — and that’s the exciting part.” Tiger Woods Sincerely, Tod Fitterer, PGA

Page 10 The Divot April 2021 issue 4 April 2021, We made it out of winter and spring feels like it is kind of here. The course is open, and we have seen some of you out and about already. Mostly the turf did well for the winter months, meaning we didn’t lose much anywhere. As always there is much do to. You will see us con- tinue to clean up, begin to groom playing areas, put out course amenities, start up the irriga- tion system, test systems, and generally doing our thing. From now until about late May much focus is on greens health and root growth. This is needed to sustain them throughout the ac- tion-packed months of summer and stress they endure within that time period. There are al- so many little projects we need to get to that had to wait till spring. We always start out with walking golf for a week or two, as we await frost heaved soils and ex- cessive moisture to dissipate properly before we allow carts. Generally speaking, it’s around April 1st and this year the conditions are on that same pace. As we get to golfing, keep in mind for morning rounds that there is high potential for the inconvenient frost delays until late May. Right now, holes on the south side of the MRL Railroad tracks, 1,9,10, and 18 all have some phase of construction on them. We are not going to rope these areas off, nor paint around any of them as it is easy to tell they are work zones. Inevitably, golf balls will end up in these are- as. It is to be played as “Ground Under Repair”. You should pick you ball up from these areas, find and take nearest relief, and continue to play the hole from there. We would appreciate it if you wouldn’t play from the dirt/construction areas. Upon the last visit with Chip Roe (our Contractor) he hopes to be mobilized in and working strong with his crew by early to mid- April. As things happen, we will update status of construction daily with the Pro-Shop so you as golfers can inquire what you might encounter throughout your round. Examples would be something like a green is closed for a couple hours, or tees moved forward on a given hole to accommodate work for the day. There will also likely be some email communication with up- dates on status of project as things move along. That’s is it for now, see you out there and enjoy the spring. Derek Hofer
