April 2019 Gidday Folks If you missed the “Hi Tea at Wohler’s” at Richmond, on the 8th April, you missed a great presentation and a delicious cup of tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones (with jam & cream, of course). I was surprised the prices were quite competitive, I have a feeling it may have been an expensive Hi Tea for some, but over all was a worth while experience, and enjoyed by all. Wow! What a great presentation at the March General Meeting by our guest speaker—Brian Wheeler from the Flying Doctor, it’s hard to imagine all the knowledge he had, I know 40 plus years is a long time but to keep all that knowledge relevant and up to date is some tremendous feat! We have already received the receipt for our donation, that’s quick! After the sad news regarding our Web Hosting Owner - Andrew Saunders, I am happy to say we are now working under the new server, and seems to be working well after a few harrowing situations, where the authorizations and codes didn’t match the new servers, and they had to be manually updated, Thanks to Tim all is fixed and functioning properly now. He had about 10 customers to transfer so he had his hands pretty full for quite a while once he started to transfer them across to his servers, and he does this as a Hobby, I’m glad he has the skills and knowledge because I see why Paul said Nooooo to setting up our own server, you were right big time for sure! While Noellene & Peter are away Rob Booth will be handling Trips and Social—Be kind to him (He Bites) Don’t forget the Trips & Social on Page 7 & 13, something may interest you? Trip Sheet is looking good, keep it up! If you have an idea for a Trip have a word to Rob B, he may bite! (Or does he!) If you require any Tools & Property while Peter R is away, you had better order from Peter before Monday’s meeting or it will be 4 Months before you can get it. Please let Phill (0438 70 2503 or philaine@gmail.com) know of any changes to your circumstances, ie Change of address, telephone numbers, email addresses etc., so we can ensure our records are up to date Remember a Club is only as good as its members, so become involved and become an active part! Please support our Sponsor who back the club, without their assistance and support, the Club fees would be quite a bit more expensive than they are at present, so please use their services, whenever the need arises! Advert on Page 17 If you would like to order a Club Polo Shirt, Club Cap or Beanie, or a NEW Hoodie (Page 18), see Kyla and put your name on the form at the front. A small part of the sale is a Fund Raiser for the Club Don’t forget to check out our Facebook Site looks good, still 192 likes, need more likes though. It is worth having a look at, keep an eye on it. One of our Prime Objectives should always be to promote the Club as a Responsible, Active, Environmental & Friendly Club, and proud of our 40+ years, YES that’s right we are now over 40 years young and the Suzuki 4WD turned 45 in 2017! Check the positions page (Page 4) to find out who is responsible for what, so if you have a gripe or a problem, please contact someone on the committee and let them know, so it can be handled swiftly. Yours in Suzukiing & 4WDing 3 Rob

JOINT CLUBS TRIP June Long Week End (7th June 2019 to 10th June 2019) and beyond to the 21st June 2019 Down to GHOST MUSHROOM LANE - Glencoe in the South East. An educational and photographic opportunity that can only be experienced at this time of the year if conditions are right. How many times do clubs try for a trip for this LWE and in the end nothing eventuates for any number of reasons. Not retired, do not have holidays at this time of the year, have school aged children, but would still like to get away. Yes we often avoid the school holidays, but then we may be accommodat- ing the potential growth from within the younger age group? For those then that can not continue for the second stage " and beyond" they can return home having spent time with other various club members. Then for the ones who can continue on, NORTH TO ECHUCA TO CONNECT WITH THE COBB HIGHWAY AND UP TO BROKEN HILL. Tour the length of THE LONG PADDOCK. lf you look at this touring route, there a number of itineraries been prepared to suit individual tastes. I understand there is only about 80km of well maintained non sealed road at the final run in to Wilcannia. Across to Broken Hill, and back to Adelaide via Jamestown, Progress will be dependant on weather conditions and the group. My aim will be to finish on Friday 21st June 2019 Expressions of interest, Clubs or individuals to BOB PAGE suebobpaqe@optusnet.com.au or phone 7324 2994. When we have numbers we can then look at firming up itinerary and arrangements. Would be appropriate prior to the event to meet together and perhaps have a weekend away at a location close to Adelaide. Will need to be recorded as a club trip by all Clubs with Members attending, and that they all be Financial Members at the time of the trip for insurance purposes. Any assistance would be appreciated For All Trips—Please Contact the Trip Leader First and then Rob B Phone 8250 7987 8

Celebration of Four Wheel Driving May 18th/19th 2019, Club notes. Version 2. Four wheel drives, off road campers, and small compact off road “vans” is what we are looking for, including all your “special” features. Must be in before 5pm Saturday 18th. Cannot leave before 4pm Sunday. As part of our demonstrations, some rigs will be packing up earlier, but not leaving. Some rigs might like to do demos of their camping equipment. If you’re proud of it, why not show it off!! To be clear, we will be camping overnight Saturday. Full rig, like you are about to cross the Simpson! Annexes, tents, as long as it comes in on your vehicle! Thanks to ARB you will only have to pay $10.00, or find a Club sponsor to help?? (Club Sponsors would be able to have a small static display near your Club setup) The public will be paying normal entry admission, and concessions will apply. Everyone attending will be encouraged to wear club Logos or uniforms. All display cars must be members of Clubs, or special permission must be obtained, and all attending people MUST sign in on Club registration. All rigs will be encouraged to do some camp oven or other cooking around the campfire provided, as a demonstration. Maybe a damper demo, or a Dream Pot competition?? Maybe sponsored?? It would appear at this stage we will hire a 2 piece band and PA equipment for the Saturday 2 hour “concert”, and fill the gaps on Sunday, our feature day. A mobile stage has been sponsored. Full access to the Motor Museum, for both Saturday and Sunday, and pass outs, is included in the entry fee, for all legal passengers, who are also camping. A list of trips taken by the Club members, and a list for the vehicle needs to be on display so the public can talk to members about their experiences. Security of your rigs is entirely your responsibility, and may be shared with your neighbouring rigs!! The grounds will be secured overnight. Clubs/or members, will asked to assist in helping to make the event happen. This is an opportunity to put our recreation on display, and show we are everyday people, from all walks of life, who have a passion for responsible four wheel driving. We now have ARB, Battery World, and Cornes Toyota, in as major sponsors, and they will have displays in the centre of the oval, Mount Barker 4x4 Centre and Woodside Caltex have offered prizes for our major raffle. We have a winery, and a brewery booked in, and a coffee van from within the 4x4 ranks. Reid Print, Mt Barker, have offered printing, ARB artwork for posters and pamphlets, Battery World for lanyards and tags. It’s all happening, but we still need help to make it come together! Contact Trev Manning, at tlskmanning@bigpond.com if you require more information. Along with the people in the rigs, we expect a minimum of 1000 people through the gate, and advertising through various mediums that will cover the state and even interstate. All participating Clubs are asked to use their Social Media outlets to advertise the Sunday. Although we currently have over 50 cars with registered interest, we need more for the day to be successful. Guests for the day, to speak on stage, John Rooth, as in “Roothy”, Valmai Hankel, Doug Sprigg, who was in the first car to cross the Simpson, and many others. All other general enquiries should also be directed, at this stage, to Trev Manning at the above address. 13
