Executive Summary In the autumn of 2015, the members of the League Management Committee undertook a comprehensive review of all the activities of the Mayo Football League. Following the review, the League have decided on a wide range of actions, most will be implemented immediately while others will be put in place over the course of the plan. Previously, the Mayo Football League, like many other leagues was focused on promoting the game by providing fixtures, maintaining discipline, implementing rules and developing facilities at Milebush. The MFL will now have a different focus. We are adopting a more modern, professional approach by treating our clubs, players and supporters as clients and committing to providing a top class experience for all stakeholders in the game. The MFL has over 1,200 registered players. Our aim is to increase this figure and to retain these players within the game for as long as possible. To achieve this we want to have clearly defined seasons and fixtures, to have the best possible playing and changing facilities and to reach their own potential by having suitably qualified coaches at all levels. Meanwhile, we want to provide a pathway for our elite players and coaches to progress to the top of the domestic game. The MFL believe that a Mayo Representative Team should play in the SSE Airtricity U17 League by 2017, the U19 League by 2019 and shortly afterwards the MFL will apply to join the First Division of SSE Airtricity League. At club level, we will provide assistance for all clubs by holding annual coaching courses, workshops for administrators and a mentoring system for clubs so that the time, energy and investment is focused and able to provide the best possible playing surfaces, changing facilities and club structures. We will also introduce a clearly defined three-tier licensing system and provide assistance to clubs to meet the criteria laid down. Promotion of the game will be prioritised by establishing a communications team within the League and by implementing various measures to promote the game, assisting the media, utilising social media and by bringing results and statistics to the public quicker and more comprehensively than ever before. The aim of the plan therefore, is to provide a better experience all round for everyone in the game, from the administrator to the player and from the coaches to the supporters. STRATEGIC PLAN 2016 - 2020 2
