MARCH 2022 VOL. 2 THE BIRD NEST Bloomfield Elementary School Monthly Newspaper TABLE OF CONTENTS How to Catch a Leprechaun by Ellie Stevens How to Catch a Leprechaun I interviewed some kids from Mrs.Clark’s March Madness and Mrs. Dahoff’s classes about the leprechaun traps they created. They said Meet the Hyrax that during the night, leprechauns snuck in, left green footprints all over the place, Join the Band and left the window open. Its phylum is like fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Its diet is mainly varieties of grass and shrubs. It is fully grown at 16 to 18 months old and it lives for 9 to 14 years. They mainly live in Africa. We do not know the population of the hyrax. Hyrax can climb steep rocky surfaces because their feet are like a dome that creates a vacuum. THE BIRD NEST PAGE 2
MARCH 2022 VOL. 2 Join the Band! Rice Krispie Treats By Mrs. Helms by Evie Miller Attention all 5th grade students! We will be starting our instrument testing in May for the beginning band. If you would like to join band, please let Mrs. Katie Helms know prior to May 16th. We will be testing during the week of May 16th. There will be a parent meeting on May 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the HS cafeteria. Benefits of Joining Band Learn a fantastic new skill Perform at concerts Ingredients: Travel Pick your favorite chocolate: White, dark, or milk Play with the pep band at Varsity basketball games chocolate Learn important life skills such as collaboration, pretzel sticks communication, confidence, and teamwork tiny colored marshmallows New friendships The homework is actually fun! MARCH 2022 VOL. 2 Student of the Month Pi Day Festivities by Chelsea Bowlen by Remy Powers Pi Day festivities! The CCLC program celebrated Pi Day with a variety of math activities. Students built with legos to represent the number, made necklaces, & created a Pi Day skyline! March's student of the month is Samantha Lynch. She is in fourth grade at Bloomfield Elementary in Mrs. Vandeventer's class. To get to know her we asked her a few questions. Her favorite hobby is writing. Her favorite food is meatballs.
