Race Guide v.1.0 April 2018 Introduction Thank you for entering the Darrington 5 Mile Run 2018. The Run marks the start of the annual Darrington Feast and Fayre on the Village Field which we hope you will stay and enjoy. There are stalls, beer, burgers, activities for children and much more. See https://www.facebook.com/darringtonvillagefield for more details. If you’ve run with us before, you’ll know what to expect. If not, this brief guide is for you: Car Parking Car parking is very limited with street parking being the main option. Please make every effort to car share or use public transport. West Yorkshire Police are usually in attendance in case of parking infringements. Registration The Registration Tent opens at 10:00am. All runners should pick up their race number from here. 20 places will be available for purchase on the day at £15 adults and £10 juniors. Safety Briefing The Safety Briefing will take place on the Village Field at 12:10pm. The Race is run on open roads with the exception of Westfield Lane which will be closed to traffic from 12:15pm until 1:45pm. Darrington 5 Mile Run Race Guide 2018 Page 2
We don’t ban the use of headphones but we strongly advise that you do not wear them during the race as it will make hearing instructions from the Marshals difficult. If you insist on wearing them, then you do so at your own risk. Marshalling Marshals will be positioned all along the route. The majority are being provided by the Official Squires Bike Marshals to whom we are extremely grateful. Please follow their instructions. There will also be a Lead Vehicle and Tail vehicle. First Aid Cover Apart from the First Aid provision at The Feast and Fayre itself, the Tail Vehicle will carry a qualified and equipped First Aider. The Start The Race Start is at 12:20pm on Sotheron Croft. Faster runners should position themselves at the front with slower runners behind to prevent congestion at the start. Your Race Number Race number allocations will be publicised via email and Facebook prior to the event. They will also be clearly displayed on a board outside the Registration. We have plenty of safety pins. Your number should be clearly visible on the front of your vest/shirt. Weather and Hydration We’re often lucky enough to get hot weather at The Feast and Fayre. Please make sure you’re properly hydrated before the event. A water station is provided just after the half way point with bottled water also provided at the finish line. The Route The Finish The Finish Line is on the Village Field. Please keep moving after you’ve crossed the line to avoid congestion and collect your medal and water. Results Race results will be published on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/darrington5mile, the Village Field Trust website at http://darringtonvillagefield.org/5 mile run.html and also emailed to all entrants. We do not run under a UKA Licence so the results will not appear on the Run Britain web site. FAQs I can no longer run. Can I give my number to someone else? Yes you can but we like to know who is running so please let us know either before the event by email at darrington5milerun@outlook.com or on the day at the Registration Tent. If it’s a Junior entry being transferred to an adult, £10 will be payable on the day. Is the Race chip timed? No, it’s too expensive but we’re pretty good at doing it the old fashioned way. Is there a bag drop? Yes at the Registration Tent. Write your name and race number on the label provided and attach to your bag. You must present your race number afterwards to reclaim your bag. All items left at your own risk. Will there be any event photos? Not officially but plenty will be taken and we will endeavour to publish these on our Facebook page. Are there any prizes?
