SUPPLEMENTARY SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
1.      RULES
        The race is governed by the Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions published in the ORWA
        Handbook 2018/19 and by these Supplementary Sailing Instructions. In the event of conflict, these
        supplementary Sailing Instructions will prevail.

2.      START TIMES
        Warning Signal         Division 1,2 & DH        1055
        The start boat will be “”Challenger” flying an RPYC burgee.

3.      CREW LISTS and PLB’s
3.1     Any final adjustment to crew lists should be done by phoning Race Control on 9430 6063
        Prior to your radio check. Please note no additions to crew will be accepted after 1700 on
        Wednesday 10th April.
3.2     Confirmation of the number of crew on board, and that there are registered PLB’s for each crew,
        will be requested by Race Control during the radio check for each boat.

4.      RADIO COMMUNICATION PROCEDURE:
4.1.1   PRE RACE RADIO CHECKS
        Race Control radio office will open at 1000 hours Friday 12th April 2019 for radio checks on VHF Ch
        82, plus HF 4146 for boats with HF radio. This changes S.I 18.1.2
4.1.2   Any changes to the Sailing Instructions will be broadcast on Channel 82 prior to the start. This
        changes S.I 3.
4.1.3   The final seconds of each timing sequence may be broadcast on VHF Channel 82. This changes S.I
        6.5
4.1.4   A boat shall be capable of communicating on VHF Channel 82 prior to starting the race. This
        changes S.I 17.1
4.2     LISTENING WATCH
        All boats shall maintain a continuous dual listening watch on VHF Channel 16 and other nominated
        VHF Channel. This changes S.I 18.3. Failure to keep a listening watch on the appropriate Channel
        will not be grounds for protest.
4.3     RACE COMMUNICATIONS
        Primary Race communications will be conducted on the nominated VHF Channel for a prescribed
        area with HF 4146 used to relay any necessary VHF communications when necessary. (Appendix B)

5.      POSITION REPORTS (SI 18.4).
5.1     Position reports will be conducted as boats pass virtual waypoints on the course as described in
        the table below:

5.2   Shore based mobile stations using the call sign “Offshore one” and “Offshore two” will follow the
      fleet around the coast and will have both HF and VHF radios.
5.3   Boats unable to make contact on VHF at the appropriate time can:
      1. Use Satellite phone to text message Race Control (No. 0419 280 268) giving lat & long at sked
      position.
      2. Call a yacht that is equipped with HF radio near you on VHF Channel 16. On making contact,
      shift to channel 72 and give your lat & long, to be relayed on HF radio to Race Control. HF
      equipped boats are listed in Appendix A
5.4   A mandatory radio report is required by all boats as they pass “Eclipse Island” on VHF CH 82
      (Offshore One).

6.    SATELLITE PHONE
6.1   Boats carrying Satellite phones are required to make a test call and text message prior to the start
      of the race. Both the call and text are to be made to the following phone number (0488 058 207)
      between the hours of 0900-1600 on Wednesday the 10th or Thursday 11th of April 2019.

7     DAY BUOYS
7.1   The Day Buoy and North Mole Day Buoy will be orange conical inflatable buoys.

8     PRESENTATIONS
8.1   Presentations for the Fremantle to Albany race will take place on Sunday the 28th April at the RPYC
      Fremantle Annexe at 1600.
