Community Services In this Issue... Staff Spotlight I have had the honor of working for the City of Upcoming Special events Temecula since January of 2010. I am currently Temecula Art & Street Painting Festival 4 the Community Services Coordinator at the Night of the Luminaries 4 Old Town Temecula Community Theater. I Sundays in the Square 4 oversee the daily Front of House operations at Ralph Love Plein Air Competition 4 Temecula’s state-of-the-art Theater as we bring Art off the Walls 4 cultural experiences in the visual and performing Symphony Series 4 arts into our community. Summer Sunset Concert Series 5 One of the many great joys I have working at Movies in the Park 5 the theater is watching local schools participate Mother/Son Date Night at the Diamond 6 in the ArtsConnection, which allow students to Build Your Own Boat Regatta 6 experience a live dance, theater, or musical September 11th Remembrance 6 Chariss Turner performance. I enjoy interacting with the kids Western Days 6 Community Services and seeing the excitement on their faces as they Temecula F.I.T. Color Run 7 Coordinator enjoy a show, sometimes for the very first time! Health & Community Resource Fair 7 Temecula Safe 7 I have always had a passion for the arts. I have been singing since I could Halloween Carnival 7 talk and I have participated in multiple musical theater productions as well as singing competitions in my youth. I have also had the opportunity to record Halloween Home Decorating Contest 7 professionally with a few national gospel artists. While my on stage persona has tapered off a bit as I grew older and started a family, I have been fortunate Specialized programs to carve out a career ‘behind the curtain’ in a field that feeds my soul. I live in Aquatics Programs & Swim Lessons 46-49 the Temecula Valley area with my husband and five sons! Before settling in Temecula, I enjoyed Youth & Teen Enrichment 20-21 an early childhood on the strand of Hermosa Beach and an older adolescence in the woods of City facilities southern Virginia. Mary Phillips Senior Center 42-43 Old Town Temecula Community Theater 40-41 After earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Pennypickle’s Workshop 36-37 Communications from Biola University, I began my career in Temecula in 2004 as a Recreation Sports Facilities & Sport Leagues 50 Leader organizing a summer youth program Places of Interest 52 known as SMART and shortly after, I joined the Wilhe augustine Temecula Libraries 44-45 staff at the Temecula Skate Park. My passion for Community Services Temecula Parks 51 Coordinator recreation wasn’t truly fulfilled until I became a Temecula Skate Park 51 part of the Special Events Team in 2007. Even when I took time off from the Temecula Valley Museum 38-39 workforce to focus on my family of two beautiful daughters, Avery and Matilda, and handsome husband, Matthew, I still volunteered for the City every chance Resource Information I was offered. Bear Cub University Kinder Camp Ages: 4.7 - 6.6 Years Is your child starting kindergarten or transitional kindergarten in August? Yes, You Can Draw & Paint Camps Ages: 6 Years - Adult Don’t sit home being bored come create an amazing painting! Camps start off by creating a beautifully detailed freehand drawing. Then, explore the magic of mixing a full range of colors using only red, blue and yellow - just like professional artists do! Campers use their new color mixing skills to paint an abstract color wheel, deepening their introduction to color theory. In the last phase, students paint drawings enhancing them with more contrast, texture and depth. Finally, they apply collaging and add the final touches.
