EVENTS – COMMUNITY 107th Annual Alameda City Tennis Tournament Friday, September 11 - Sunday, September 13 Fairfield Tennis Courts at Lower Washington Park The tradition continues as the Alameda Recreation and Park Department presents the oldest continuous sporting event in the city. The tournament is open to all adults and youth. Men’s and women’s and youth divisions as well as doubles and mixed doubles in the following classes: 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. Entries are available at Fairfield, Krusi, and Leydecker tennis courts, online and in the ARPD office, and at the Harbor Bay Club starting July 6. Entries close August 31st. ($25 singles, $40 doubles) 54th Annual Sand Castle & Sand Sculpture Contest Saturday, June 13 Free! Registration 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m Judging begins at 12:00 p.m. Awards Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park Start your creative juices flowing and get ready to bring your shovel and buckets to the beach to create a unique piece of art at the Sand Castle Contest. This FREE event is a fabulous family fun activity to either participate in or just come down to watch all of the action. The Contest is co-sponsored by the Bayview Women’s Club, East Bay Regional Park District, Alameda Youth Committee, and ARPD. Starlight Movies in the Park Free Starlight Movies in the Park will continue this summer for all families to enjoy.
