Open to any JRTCA registered terrier owned by a JRTCA member which holds a JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate.
Terriers entering the Working Section may not cross-enter into the Open Section; no cross-entering is permitted within the
Working Section.

Open to any dog which has earned the JRTCA Bronze Medallion for Special Merit in the Field. No entry fee.

JRTCA Breeder's Classes
Class 34: Stud Dog and Get Must have at least two, but no more than three offspring at parent's side. Stud Dog must be
intact. Offspring may be intact or spayed/neutered.
Class 35: Brood Bitch and Produce Must have at least two, but no more than three offspring at parent's side. Brood Bitch
must be intact. Offspring may be intact or spayed/neutered.
Class 36: Working Family Open to working stud dogs and working brood bitches with at least two, but no more than three
adult working offspring at side. All terriers must have earned and received one or more JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificates.
Class 37: BEST FAMILY & RESERVE
Open to 1st and 2nd place winners of Stud Dog and Get and Brood Bitch and Produce classes. No entry fee.
JRTCA Suitability - Judge's Choice
Open to any adult JRT, including those which have been spayed/neutered. The dog the Judge would choose to take

GO-TO-GROUND
A timed event that simulates the terrier's natural instinct to hunt. The terrier enters an artificial den/tunnel to
demonstrate its working ability. Schooling prior to the competition is not permitted. Any violation of this rule shall result
in disqualification from the Go-To-Ground competition at this trial. For all classes: work is defined as baying, digging,
concentrated stare, whining or biting at the bars. A break in work is defined as ceasing to work for a period of more than
ten seconds. Leaving the quarry is defined as moving back in the tunnel away from quarry and out of the view of the
judge. The judge may halt the work, if the judge believes the terrier is injuring itself. Copies of your JRTCA trial
certificate must be submitted with pre-entries or presented to the den steward at the time of judging. CROSS-
ENTERING IS NOT PERMITTED BETWEEN CERTIFICATE CLASSES. First and second place winners of the
certificate classes will be Go-to-Ground Champion and Reserve. For more information about go-to-ground, to

Class 98: Pre-Novice Puppy
Open to Jack Russell puppies 4 up to 6 months. Entry in Pre-Novice Puppy class does not affect the puppy's eligibility to
enter the Novice Class after 6 months of age. One minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter until quarry is
reached; mark quarry for 15 seconds without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
10Class 99: Novice Puppy
Open to Jack Russells 6 up to 12 months which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Entries
earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the entry fee, enter the Open Puppy Class at this trial. One
minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter several times until quarry is reached; when quarry is reached must
work quarry continuously for a full 30 seconds without a break in work and without leaving the quarry; may switch from
one type of work to another.
Class 100: Novice Adult
Open to Jack Russells one year of age or older which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Entries
earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the entry fee, enter the Open class at this trial. One minute to
reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter several times until quarry is reached; must work quarry continuously for a full
30 seconds without a break in work and without leaving the quarry; may switch from one type of work to another.
Class 101: Open Puppy
Open to Jack Russells 6 up to 12 months which have scored 100% in a Novice Go-To-Ground class at this or a previous
JRTCA trial. Not open to any puppies which have previously achieved 100% in this class. Puppies earning a score of
100% at this trial may, upon payment of the entry fee, enter the Puppy Championship GTG class at this trial. 30 seconds
to reach quarry; may leave earth once and re-enter before quarry is reached; must work quarry continuously for one full
minute without a break in work and without leaving quarry; may switch from one type of work to another.)
Class 102: Open Adult
Open to Jack Russells one year or older which have scored 100% in a Novice Go-To-Ground class at this or a previous

Class 104: 10" up to 12½" Adult Championship Certificate
Open to any adult Jack Russell 10 up to 12½", one year and over, which holds a JRTCA Trial Certificate. A copy of the
certificate must be submitted with pre-entry or be shown to the Den Steward at the time of the class. 30 seconds to reach
quarry; may not leave earth; work quarry for one full minute without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
Class 105: Over 12½" up to 15" Adult Championship Certificate
Open to any adult Jack Russell over 12½" up to 15", one year and over, which holds a JRTCA Trial Certificate. A copy of
the certificate must be submitted with pre-entry or be shown to the Den Steward at the time of the class. 30 seconds to
reach quarry; may not leave earth; work quarry for one full minute without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
Class 106: 10" up to 12 ½" Veteran Championship Certificate
Open to any adult Jack Russell 6 years of age or older, who holds a JRTCA Trial Certificate. 30 seconds to reach quarry;
may not leave earth; work quarry for one full minute without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
Class 107: Over 12½" up to 15" Veteran Championship Certificate

11Earthdog Go-to-Ground (non-sanctioned)

continuously for 30 seconds without a break in work and without leaving quarry. Non-sanctioned.
Class 111: Earthdog Open
Open to earthdogs, 6 months and older, who have scored 100% in a novice class at previous trials. 30 seconds to reach
quarry. May leave earth once and re-enter before quarry is reached. Work quarry continuously for one full minute
without a break in work and without leaving quarry. Non-sanctioned.
Class 112: Earthdog Go-to-Ground Champion & Reserve
1st and 2nd place winners of Earthdog Open class. Non-sanctioned. No entry fee.
SUPER EARTH
A challenging GTG course with a series of false entrances and/or false tunnels and dens. Open to any Jack Russell terrier,
6 months and older. 30 seconds per 30 feet of tunnel to reach quarry; may leave and re-enter earth several times until the
quarry is reached and then must work quarry for one full minute without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
May switch from one type of work to another without penalty. Classes may be combined as entries warrant. Sanctioned
classes; check rules posted. CROSS-ENTERING IS NOT PERMITTED BETWEEN CERTIFICATE CLASSES. For

Class 113: 6- up to 12-month Puppy Super Earth
Class 114: 10" up to 12½" Adult Super Earth. Open to terriers one year and older.
Class 115: Over 12½" up to 15" Adult Super Earth Open to terriers one year and older.
Class 116: 10" up to 12½" Veteran Super Earth Open to terriers 6 years up to 9 years old.
Class 117: Over 12½ up to 15" Veteran Super Earth Open to terriers 6 years up to 9 years old.
Class 118: 10 up to 12½" Senior Super Earth Open to terriers 9 years and older.
Class 119: Over 12½ up to 15" Senior Super Earth Open to terriers 9 years and older.
Class 120: 6 up to 12 month Puppy Champion Super Earth.
Open to 6 up to 12 month JRT puppies which have earned 100% in a 6- up to 12-month Puppy Super Earth class at this
or a previous JRTCA Trial. A copy of a 100% scoresheet must be presented with pre-entry or be shown to the den
steward at the time of the class.
Class 121: Adult Certificate Super Earth, 10" up to 12½"

YOUTH DIVISION
No entry fee. The sanctioned Youth Division is open to JRTCA child and/or youth members in the following age
brackets: Child Handler (ages 5 thru 9) and Youth Handler (ages 10 thru 16). All exhibitors in the Youth Division must
be current JRTCA members, either under a Family membership or under an individual Youth membership. Youths or
their families applying for a JRTCA membership at a Sanctioned Trial will be allowed to enter classes at that trial. Child
Handlers may handle an adult terrier or a 6 up to12 months old terrier. Youth Handlers may only handle an adult terrier.
Terriers competing in Youth GTG, if entered in regular GTG classes, must compete in the regular GTG class prior to
competing in the Youth GTG class. Exhibitors must compete in a minimum of Youth Handling and Youth Go-to-Ground
to qualify for the Youth High Score & Reserve. In the case of a tie, it will be broken by a handling class to be held in the

Class 133: YOUTH HANDLER HIGH SCORE & RESERVE
Awarded to the highest scoring youth and runner-up in Youth Handler, Youth G-T-G and Youth Agility classes. The
points are awarded as follows: 1st = 8 points; 2nd = 6 points; 3rd = 5 points; 4th = 4 points; 5th = 3 points;
6th = 2 points; and participation = 1 point. No entry fee.
AGILITY
All terriers must be at least one year of age to compete in JRTCA Agility or practice on any equipment. No cross entering
between Novice On-Lead to Agility I. Agility I may not enter Agility II or III. No cross-entering from Agility II and
Agility III into Agility I. Dogs may remain in Agility I class but may not also enter Agility II and Agility III. For a

JRTCA Agility
Class 134: Novice On-Lead
Time YPS 1.50. Open to any adult terriers that have not scored above 190 points. This class is for the true beginner terrier
with the intent of a pleasant experience on the basic agility equipment. Handlers that drag their terriers around will be
seriously faulted. Course to include ramps, tunnels, and various hurdles. Although this class is for the beginner terrier,
you need to have prior exposure to agility equipment. This class is not split by age or height. Non-Certificate. Handlers
may remain in this class. May not enter in off-lead classes at this trial. This course is used for the Youth On-Lead class.
Class 135: Agility I Certificate Off Lead
Time YPS 1.75. Handlers may remain in this class. Open to any adult terriers. This class is not split by age or height.
Veteran dogs (six years and older) add 10% more course time and may jump eight or 12 inches as desired by exhibitor.
All under dogs (10" up to 12.5") can jump eight inches by choice. The Agility I Certificates are earned with three scores
of 190 or above. Three qualifying scores may move entrant of this class on to Agility II, Agility III, and Jumpers/Game.
No cross entering to this class from Agility II and Agility III. This course is used for the Youth On-Lead. No seesaw or tire
jump in this class.
Class 136: Agility II Certificate Off Lead
Time YPS 2.25 This class is not split by age or height. Veteran dogs (six years and older) add 10% more course time and
may jump eight or 12 inches as desired by exhibitor. All under dogs (10" up to 12.5") can jump eight inches by choice.
More difficult course to include all of the Agility I equipment plus two more hurdles, weave poles, and seesaw.
Class 137: Agility III Certificate Off Lead
Time YPS 3.00. This class is not split by age or height. Veteran dogs (six years and older) add 10% more course time and
may jump eight or 12 inches as desired by exhibitor. All under dogs (10" up to 12.5") can jump eight inches by choice.
Course to include all Agility I and II equipment. Weave poles are increased to 12 and must end in a "gamble". Qualifying
score will be 200 points. Gamble to be set at 8 to 10 feet.
Class 138: Jumpers/Game
Time YPS 2.75. Consists of 12-17 jumps and/or tunnels with at least one lead change. This class is not split by age or
height. Veteran dogs (six years and older) add 10% more course time and may jump eight or 12 inches as desired by
exhibitor. All under dogs (10" up to 12.5") can jump eight inches by choice. Scoring is time plus faults, with lowest score
getting 1st regardless of number of faults. Five faults for running course on-lead. Five faults for knocked bar, and off-
course. Fifteen faults for a missed obstacle. Qualifying score of 200 earns one leg toward a JRTCA Jumpers/Game
Certificate. Qualifying score sheets from Jumpers and Game may be mixed to apply for Jumpers/Game Certificate. Game
must be a qualifying score with no faults. Scores from this class go toward the Championship and Reserve along with
Agility II and Agility III.
Class 139: Oldies but Goodies Jumpers/Game
Non-sanctioned. Open to JRTs age nine and older. May jump four inches by choice. Does not count toward JRTCA
agility certificates or the High Score Champion & Reserve. Sponsored by Pat and Al Weber, this award goes to the senior
JRT with the best time.

BRUSH HUNT (non-sanctioned)
Brush hunt is an above-ground hunting simulation held in a fenced area. One camouflaged tube containing a live rat is
hidden within the brush area. The challenge is for the terrier to use natural instincts to successfully locate and work the
quarry. Terrier must work to find the quarry in the shortest amount of time. The clock starts when the judge is ready and
signals you to release your dog at the gate. All four paws must be on the ground before you release your dog. The judge
stops the clock when your dog has found the tube. You do not enter with the dog but you can encourage your dog
verbally. No hand signals allowed. The dog must locate the tube to have a qualifying time. No cross-entering between
classes. Maximum time allowed is two minutes. Non-sanctioned.

20GO-TO-GROUND
A timed event that simulates the terrier's natural instinct to hunt. The terrier enters an artificial den/tunnel to
demonstrate its working ability. Schooling prior to the competition is not permitted. Any violation of this rule shall result
in disqualification from the Go-To-Ground competition at this trial. For all classes: work is defined as baying, digging,
concentrated stare, whining or biting at the bars. A break in work is defined as ceasing to work for a period of more than
ten seconds. Leaving the quarry is defined as moving back in the tunnel away from quarry and out of the view of the
judge. The judge may halt the work, if the judge believes the terrier is injuring itself. Copies of your JRTCA trial
certificate must be submitted with pre-entries or presented to the den steward at the time of judging. CROSS-
ENTERING IS NOT PERMITTED BETWEEN CERTIFICATE CLASSES. First and second place winners of the
certificate classes will be Go-to-Ground Champion and Reserve.
Class 284: Pre-Novice Puppy
Open to Jack Russell puppies 4 up to 6 months. Entry in Pre-Novice Puppy class does not affect the puppy's eligibility to
enter the Novice Class after 6 months of age. One minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter until quarry is
reached; mark quarry for 15 seconds without a break in work and without leaving quarry.
Class 285: Novice Puppy
Open to Jack Russells 6 up to 12 months which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Entries
earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the entry fee, enter the Open Puppy Class at this trial. One
minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter several times until quarry is reached; when quarry is reached must
work quarry continuously for a full 30 seconds without a break in work and without leaving the quarry; may switch from
one type of work to another.
Class 286: Novice Adult
Open to Jack Russells one year of age or older which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Entries

SUPER EARTH
A challenging GTG course with a series of false entrances and/or false tunnels and dens. Open to any Jack Russell
Terrier, 6 months and older. 30 seconds per 30 feet of tunnel to reach quarry; may leave and re-enter earth several times
until the quarry is reached then must work quarry for one full minute without a break in work and without leaving
quarry. May switch from one type of work to another without penalty. Classes may be combined as entries warrant.
Sanctioned classes; check rules posted. CROSS-ENTERING IS NOT PERMITTED BETWEEN CERTIFICATE
CLASSES.
