SHOW HALL
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ENTRANTS IN SHOW HALL CATEGORIES: When you get
your Confirmation Email, open the attachment and print your Exhibit Cards. Cut them in
half. Keep the Exhibitor's card side yourself, (to claim prize money) and attach the Exhibit Card
side to your exhibit when you bring it in to the Show Hall at the scheduled time. For those
without email addresses, the Exhibit Cards will be supplied by the Show.
Exhibit Cards are only emailed to entrants in Cookery, Horticulture, Market Garden, Art,
Photography and Craft.

                                  Conditions of Entry
Important Information:
          Please read instructions in each class carefully, in particular size
                          and presentation requirements.
   •   Show Hall entries close Friday, 1 May unless stated otherwise in specific sections.
   •   Completed entry forms can be lodged and paid for online
       - www.fredspassruralshow.com.au. Follow the online links through to the shopping
       cart. Membership fees can also be paid once you have entered your online entries and
       before you check-out.
   •   Completed entry forms with cash or cheque payment can be hand delivered to the
       Show Office, and the Nelson, Goyder and Daly Electorate Offices between 9 am – 5 pm
       from 2 March to 1 May.
   •   One exhibitor per paper entry form only.
   •   Entry Fees: Non-Members $2.40; Members, Disability/Carer/Aged Pensioners, Senior
       Card Holders, Juniors (under 17 years) $1.20
   •   No late entries will be accepted.
   •   Dates for exhibits to be delivered to Show Hall can be found in each section, and
       below. Both Adult and Junior entries are received on the same day.
   •   If a class has size restrictions, any over-sized exhibit will not be judged
   •   The Chief Steward may place in the correct class exhibits considered to be entered in a
       wrong class.
   •   Exhibits and prize cards can be removed between 3 pm and 5 pm on Sunday 17 May,
       but must not be removed before 3 pm. The Show Hall will be open from 10.30 and - 3
       pm on Monday 18 May for collection of entries. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor
       to arrange a time for collection of exhibits and/or prize money at another time if these
       times are not suitable. Exhibits not removed by 31 May will be disposed of by the
       committee.

•   Prize money and prizes will be distributed from the Show Office during the Show on:
       Saturday from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm; 3.30 pm to 5 pm
       Sunday from 10 am to 11.30 am; 1 pm to 3 pm.

Packet mixtures must not be used. Set recipes must be used where specified. Ring tins not
allowed. All paper must be removed from cakes and muffins. All cakes must be un-iced except
where specified. All cakes must be cooked in a single tin.

Cakes, biscuits etc to be presented in an oven bag on a firm plate, decorated cakes excepted. If
not presented in oven bag or on plate, entries will incur a small fee.

5 – 55 gm eggs, 1 1/3 cups soft brown sugar, 250 gm soft butter, 500 gm sultanas, 250 gm
seeded raisins, chopped, 250 gm currants, 1/3 cup mixed peel, ½ cup glacé cherries, chopped, ½
cup blanched almonds, chopped, 2 cups plan flour, ½ cup self-raising flour, 1-1/2 teaspoons
mixed spice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ cup brandy, sherry or

in similar class, soft icing and non-edible ornaments allowed.

       show.

Diorama - a three-dimensional miniature life-like scene in which figures, animals, figurines, or
other objects are arranged in a naturalistic setting. Fresh and/or dried natural materials must

be included. Figures and figurines may be made from plastic, modelling clay or any other
medium. Shoebox dioramas must be no larger than 25cm x 40cm x 25cm high.

                 School Garden Competition
Schools are encouraged to enter their school community gardens.
Horticultural judges will visit each school entry and judge the best garden, taking into account
planning, produce, student and parent participation and eco components of the garden
(watering, recycling, compost etc).
Space will be provided at the Show for schools to provide highlights of their gardens in the form
of a display, photographs and/or produce.
Please email a description of your garden, including indicating if you want to have a display at

Important Information
This section is open to amateur artists only.
• All entries/exhibits must not exceed 1 metre by 1 metre including frame and must be
    mounted and fitted with hooks/wire/cord attached, ready to hang. Exhibits that cannot be
    hung will not be accepted. The exception is Class 4006 Digital/computer generated art,
    which may be presented on paper or card ready to be pinned/velcroed to a display board.
• Maximum 3 entries per person per class.
• All entries must be own work. No entries completed before the preceding twelve months
    will be accepted.
• All exhibits must have the exhibitors name and address printed on the back of each exhibit.
• Judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Art definition: two dimensional drawings and paintings on backing equipped to be hung

LIVESTOCK
 INFORMATION FOR ALL CLASSES
 Conditions of Entry
•   Entry forms can be lodged and paid for online at www.fredspassruralshow.com.au or po
    sted direct to Freds Pass Rural Show, PO Box 639 Coolalinga NT 0839. Completed entry
    forms with cash or cheque payment can be hand delivered to the Show Office, and
    the Nelson, Goyder and Daly Electorate Offices between 9 am – 5 pm from 2 March to
    1 May, with cash, cheque or money.
    All animals must be healthy and free from disease. Any animal that is, in the opinion of
    the Livestock Manager/steward not healthy or is diseased is to be removed immediately
    from the showgrounds.
•   Livestock Movement Biosecurity Requirements - Persons bringing any of the following
    animals to the Freds Pass Rural Show, either for competition, demonstration or display,
    must meet the requirements of the Livestock Act and Livestock Regulations:
         • cattle and buffalo
         • horses, including mules and donkeys
         • sheep, goats and pigs
         • alpacas, camels and llamas
         • deer
         • bees
         • crocodiles
         • there are no restrictions on moving poultry or pigeons.
 •   All cattle, goats, pigs, deer and sheep entering the showgrounds must be identified
     with a NLIS device and must be accompanied by a complete waybill which includes the
     property identification (PIC) of the property of origin.
 •   The Steward will issue waybills for these animals leaving the Showgrounds.
 •   The Freds Pass Rural Show will complete the upload of movement records to the NLIS
     Database.
 •   Livestock returning interstate or below the tick line must have a clean Inspection
     and supervised treatment.

 Deliver & Collection
 •    Cattle are to be delivered to the Livestock Pavilion on Friday 17 May 8 am to 12 noon.
 •    Goats and pigs are to be delivered between 8 am and 10.30 am.
 •    Exhibits may be removed between 5 pm and 6 pm on Saturday 18 May, due to
      fireworks.

Pets
Special Regulations
• Livestock Movement Biosecurity Requirements as outlined in the Livestock Conditions of
   Entry apply to some farmyard pets eg cattle, goats, sheep, pigs.
• Exhibitors will be notified prior to the show if for any reason the exhibit is not accepted.
• Exhibitors are required to provide their own secure cages, water and food
   containers. Feeding and watering is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
• If LARGER pens are required, please mark it on entry form.
• All exhibits will be vetted in. Any sick or incorrectly caged pets will not be accepted.
• All entries are exhibited at owner's risk.
• Exhibitors are required to be present during judging which commences at 10.30 am
   Saturday, to handle and display their pets as may be required by the judge.
• Native animals must have a permit.

Delivery & Collection:
• Exhibits will only be accepted at the Pet Pen, Noel's Ark, Saturday 16 May, between 9.30 am
   and 10 am.
• All exhibits must be collected by 12 noon on Saturday 16 May, unless prior arrangement has
   been made with the Show Office.

Goats
Special Regulations

• Food and water to be provided by the exhibitor, bedding straw and pens to be the
   responsibility of Freds Pass Rural Show.
• Goats in this section need to be a full blood recognised in Australia, eg Anglo Nubian, Boer,
   British Alpine, Toggenburg. If in any doubt, contact Steward.
• Exhibitors are asked to identify the number of pens they require.
• Exhibitors should note the following:
       a) Goatling – refers to a female goat unkidded, between the ages of 12 and 24 months
       b) Buckling – refers to a male goat between the ages of 12 and 24 months
       c) Kid – refers to a goat under the age of 12 months.
• All of the above ages are at date of judging.
• The Goat Handlers Competition will be judged prior to and during the goat judging and will
   include aspects of care and preparation of the stock.
• Judging will be on Friday 15 May at 11 am.

Cattle
Special Regulations
• Livestock Movement Biosecurity Requirements as outlined in the Livestock Conditions of
   Entry apply.
• Food and water to be provided by the exhibitor, bedding straw and pens to be the
   responsibility of Freds Pass Rural Show.
• All nominated cattle to attend Freds Pass Rural Show must be identified with a RFID before
   delivery to the showgrounds.
• The cattle must be accompanied by a complete Waybill which includes the property
   identification (PIC) of the property of origin.
• The Cattle Steward will issue Waybills for cattle leaving the showgrounds.
• The Freds Pass Rural Show will complete the upload of movement records to the NLIS
   Database. Stock returning interstate or below the tick line must be supervised with
   certificate.
• Stud stock will be judged in an open ring starting 9 am Saturday 16 May. Led stock over 12
   months old must have a nose ring or clip for safety requirements.
• Other exhibits will be judged in their pens following the stud cattle judging.
• The Cattle Judging Competition will be judged prior to and during the cattle judging.
• The Cattle Handlers Competition will be judged prior to and during the stud cattle judging
   and will include aspects of care and preparation of the stock.
• A new class will not be made for three or more of any breed without a minimum of two
   exhibitors in that class, or by the Judges or Chief Steward's consent.
• Stud stock should be available for the Grand Parade at 2 pm Saturday.

SPECIAL REGULATIONS
PAVILION HOURS: OPEN at 9am Saturday and Sunday. CLOSE at 6.30pm Saturday and 3pm
Sunday
JUDGING: Judging of all birds will be conducted in accordance with the Australian Poultry
Standards.
DELIVERY: All poultry must be delivered to Stewards, Poultry Pavilion, Freds Pass Showgrounds,
between 1pm and 6pm on Thursday 14 May and must remain for the duration of the Show.
COLLECTION: All Poultry must be removed between 3pm and 6pm on Sunday 17 May.
ENTRIES: PLEASE STATE VARIETY AND COLOUR ON ENTRY FORM. It is anticipated that all
entries received will be accepted. However, the Committee reserves the right to reduce the
number of entries which may be accepted in any class or classes should there be insufficient
penning space to accommodate all entries. Leg bands may be worn but must not identify the
owner or breeder.
HEALTH: Exhibitors are requested to ensure their exhibits are in good health and condition
when delivered to the Poultry Pavilion. Exhibits showing signs of sickness, disease, vermin or
poor condition will be refused acceptance. Exhibitors are requested to ensure that exhibits are
clean by examining their birds for lice and vermin prior to delivery. Properly prepared, clean
exhibits in good show condition bring credit to the exhibitors and the show. Please help to
maintain a high standard.
CLASSES: No exhibit may be entered in more than one class. Should an exhibit be incorrectly
entered in more than one class, such exhibit shall be deemed ineligible to compete in any class
other than the first one in which its name or particulars appear in this Schedule.
Birds entered in Breeding Classes are not eligible for individual awards of any nature. A new
class may be made for three or more of any breed or variety exhibited, with a minimum two
exhibitors in that class or at the Chief Steward’s discretion. In any other variety classes (AOV)
please state variety & colour on entry form. In any class when there is more than one colour in
the breed the colour should be advised on the entry form.
HANDLING: Birds are not to be handled after 8am on day of judging.
FOOD: Food containers to be removed where necessary by Steward prior to judging. Standard
food only in pens prior and during judging. Selected feed can be replaced after judging. Only
Stewards to feed and water birds at all times.
EGGS: Eggs laid during show will be disposed of unless special arrangements are made with the
chief steward.
DEFINITIONS: A.O.V. = any other variety, A.V. = Any Variety, A.O.C. = Any other colour,
A.C. = any colour, A.B. = Any Breed, O.E.G. = Old English Game.
