                                           Strut Your Mutt
                             A (virtual) walk in the park that saves lives.

Every year, hundreds of shelters, rescue groups and other animal welfare groups
          take part in Strut Your Mutt to raise the money needed to save more animals’ lives.
     All Best Friends Network partners (more than 2,000 in all 50 states) are welcome to take part
                in the nationwide fundraising event to raise money and have tons of fun,
                        all while bringing together supporters in their communities.

        Join Best Friends Animal Society and K-9 Angels Rescue for Strut Your Mutt in Houston.

K-9 Angels Rescue is Houston’s premier all volunteer 501c3 non-profit animal rescue group. Established in 2012, we are
an all-breed, foster-based dog rescue focusing on saving at-risk dogs from high-kill shelters and increasingly from the
streets. Beginning in 2016 we expanded our scope to include cats as the cat adoption rates are very low at the public
shelters. To date we have rescued and re-homed over 7500 dogs and over 500 cats, including Tanker B Jones who we
rescued in 2012 and is our official Strut Your Mutt mascot!

K-9AR’s mission statement includes “We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of
irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters”. As such,
Spay/Neuter has always been an objective. In 2017 K-9AR funded a spin-off project, “The Empty Shelter Project”.
TESP schedules quarterly MASH-style spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinate events in at-need communities in Houston
and Harris County. To date we have held 14 Spay Neuter events, handling 5,228 dogs and cats all free to the public!
This results in 27,500 first generation offspring not being on our streets or in our shelters.

In 2019 K-9AR had expenses of nearly $450,000 for our Rescue Operations, another $250,000 for our Empty Shelter
Project and nearly $50,000 for our 1220 Clinic – a high volume spay/neuter clinic we opened in 2019. We make a little
over $200,000.00 in revenue from our adoptions. This means we need to raise $500,000.00 each year to keep operating
at this high capacity.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our operations across the board. We have shut down our weekend Adoption
Center and gone to an on-line adoption process with “by-appointment only” animal viewing for approved adopters. We
cancelled our March 14th TESP event and do not see holding another large event this year. We are working on plans to
continue providing free spay neuter services to at-need communities via a network of spay/neuter clinics and perhaps
some mini TESP events based on COVID containment. This will likely lead to increased costs for our Spay Neuter
programs.

As you can see, K-9 Angels Rescue operates at a high capacity across a broad spectrum of animal welfare activities.
As a non-profit we rely on donations to keep our programs running. We appreciate every dollar that is donated and
continue to work diligently to maximize the benefit of those dollars toward improving animal welfare and overall quality of
life in Houston and Harris County. Thank you for your support!
