St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 14085 Peyton Drive, Chino Hills, CA 91709 (909) 465-5503 ● FAX (909) 465-1683 Office Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. E-mail: info@sptacc.org ● Web site: sptacc.org PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the people of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Faith Community, Baptized into Jesus Christ, formed by Word and Sacrament, and Empowered by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Seek to be a visible sign of God’s love. We seek to build the Kingdom of God by: Using our unique gifts to minister to one another, Welcoming all and caring for those in need, Teaching our faith to others and Uniting in worship as a family with the Body of Christ. Dear St. Paul Family and Friends, In a society that embraces co-habitation or living-in and ignores both the escalating divorce statistics and the dangerous consequences of divorce especially to children, our Gospel this weekend would be difficult to preach. Yet, we must. While we care for, with much sensitivity and compassion, those who have gone through divorce (for certainly, no one wishes for their marriages and their families to break apart), we are called to proclaim the teachings of Christ on the sanctity and indissolubility of marriage and the sacredness of family life. Our proclamation must come with programs geared toward the strengthening of marital relationships and family bonds. Our parish offers a beautiful and systematic program for those who are preparing for their weddings which includes Engagement Encounter and FOCCUS Pre-marriage Inventory. We also have a very strong Marriage Enrichment community that offers guidance and help to those who have been married for quite some time. Many of the couples who come out of this retreat become active members of our parish, specially helping out in our festival and ministries. However, young couples/families remain the untapped/unserved yet the largest section of our parish community. As they go through various transitions and changes in their lives, we need to accompany them in learning the art of mutual adjustment, generosity, and forgiveness. We also need to guide them in their desire to train and raise their children in the Catholic faith. Thus, I want to establish a Ministry to Young Families. If you feel you are called to begin this new ministry, we can have a conversa- tion. One great way of strengthening the bonds of the family is to volunteer together as a family to our Harvest Festival. I have seen both parents and children work together at the festival every year and they create beautiful memories together with the faith community. Many of our active youth and young adults started volunteering with their parents when they were little children. Thus, the values of generous service and being community-oriented have been ingrained in them. It is true that the family that prays together, stays together. But it is also true that the family that serves God together, stays together. Fr. Joseph CM Pilotin, MS

Catechetical Ministry Page 8 A Note from the Director Dear Parents, families and friends, Welcome to the 2021-2022 Catechetical Year! On behalf of our Catechetical Team, we are very excited to support and accompany you and your child’s faith journey. As we begin the new year, let us reflect on how the formation of faith is a lifelong journey that begins in the home. and recognize the impact we as parents/guardians have in sharing our faith through our model and witness. Our youth are constantly learning by what we model to them and how we live our faith. Their personal relationship with Christ and the Church is rooted in our own relationships. Through our daily routines, our family life, and our faith life. Without intentionally choosing to do so, more often than not their responses to their invitation to the way of discipleship reflect the values and attitudes of their immediate environment, rooted within the home. When we intentionally approach these learnings with positivity and especially in the context religious experiences and make the sacrifice and effort to center family life in God, we are creating and nurturing the desired faith response that our children should have when we first meet Christ in the Eucharist and throughout their daily living. They too will want to continue to grow in their personal relationships with Christ and seek to encounter Christ. This personal relationship with Christ must be nurtured and cultivated through the faith-filled experiences of living and loving those with whom our children share their lives. They need to experience that constant invitation to come to know Jesus in order to love Jesus. Parents and Guardians are encouraged to offer this invitation to develop a personal relationship with Christ by sharing the stories of Jesus and showing them pictures, movies, or videos of bible stories that illustrate the life of Jesus. Families are always encouraged to find times and ways to pray together. Consider praying as a family at the beginning of the day, before or after meals or before bedtime. Although our schedules may be hectic, this can be a time of peace and calm. Let’s start today being models and witnesses of our faith for our children. May God continue to bless us, our children and all our journeys.
