SEWING THROUGH THE YEARS A STYLE SHOW FOR THE SEAMSTRESS Tuesday, July 20, 2021 7:00 PM Vanderburgh 4-H Center – Exposition Hall 201 E. VANDERBURGH COUNTY FASHION REVUE RULES DIVISIONS: Non-Professional Anyone who does not fall within the Professional Category. Professional Professionals are considered as “one who has received any monetary compensation in excess of $1,200 per year over the last 5 years in any phase of clothing (construction, judging, modeling, fabric sales, teaching, a degree in clothing and textiles).” CATEGORIES: A. COATS AND SUITS – Separate coat for your wardrobe, to be solely a coat with its own accessories. Suits being two or more pieces (i.e. skirt or pants with jacket, cape, or vest of the same fabric, shown with or without its own blouse or shirt). Jacket, coat, cape or vest must be lined. B. DRESSES – One- or two-piece dress. Includes a dress with own jacket, coat, vest or jumper and blouse. C. MY CHOICE – Active wear (i.e. tennis wear / swimwear), western, loungewear or costumes (such as historic, dance, international or Halloween), which do not fit in the other classes listed. No bridal gowns, see wedding gowns etc. D. SEPARATES – True coordinates. May be 2, 3 or more garments selected and modeled together for a complete look. All garments must be worn. Each piece should be important enough to stand on its own with other garments. Accessory items such as sweater, blouse or shirt may be a purchased garment. E. FAMILY OUTFITS – Person wearing outfit she/he has made, plus any other individuals wearing garments sewn for them with a coordinated or themed look. F. WEDDING GOWNS – Seamstress of the garment must be present at the judging. G. BRIDESMAIDS OR FORMAL DRESSES – Seamstress of the garment must be present at the judging. H. EMBELLISHED W/HAND OR MACHINE EMBROIDERY – Any garment that has been embellished by Hand or Machine Embroidery I. SEWING FOR OTHERS-1 CHILD’S GARMENT OR OUTFIT (Birth to Age 5) – Any type of garment, seamstress must be present. J. SEWING FOR OTHERS-1 CHILD’S GARMENT OR OUTFIT (Age 6 to 12) – Any type of garment, seamstress must be present. K. SEWING FOR OTHERS-1 TEEN’S GARMENT OR OUTFIT (Age 13 to 17) – Any type of garment, seamstress must be present. L. SEWING FOR OTHERS-1 ADULT’S GARMENT OR OUTFIT (Over Age 18) – Any type of garment, seamstress must be present.
M. SEWING FOR OTHERS—More than one model(s): Seamstress has made garments for more than one person who are doing the modeling without monetary award. S e a m s t r e s s i s n o t w e a r i n g a m a d e g a r m e n t . Seamstress presence is required at the judging and public show. N. KNIT OR CROCHETED ITEM – any type of garment or accessory O. ITEM FROM A VINTAGE PATTERN – any type of garment or accessory P. CONSUMER CLOTHING: An outfit purchased for under $100 will be modeled. You may use your own accessories/clothes to compliment the outfit. The outfit has to be for you. Be prepared to tell the judges about your purchase/bargain. Q. WEARABLE ART: A purchased or handmade garment/item that has been embellished or uniquely created. For example, with embroidery, appliqué, stenciling, made with recycled items, etc... The person who did the work must model the item. R. GROUPS—EMBELLISHED S. GROUPS—SEWING RULES Garments modeled must have been made by the contestants after September 1, 2019. If the wedding gown, bridesmaid or formal dress has been made by someone else other than the model, the seamstress (entrant) must be present for official judging and the public fashion show presentation. The award will be given to the seamstress (entrant). Same rule applies to all classes of ‘Sew for Others.’ Contestant may enter in more than one class. If entering in more than one class, garments must be different in each class. A separate entry form is required for each class. Contestants should enter garment(s) in most suitable class. Contestants must participate in the public presentation to receive their award. Judging will be open to the public. DEADLINE FOR COUNTY ENTRIES IS JULY 9, 2021. Judging will be in show order (Classes A-S). Contestant registration will start at 4:00 pm and judging at 4:30 pm. If you are not present at the time your category is judged, you will not be eligible to place. All judging will be in categories. There will be no grand prize awarded.
