NOTICE OF RACE
COVID 19 RESTRICTIONS
SHSC is putting plans in place for Calves Week 2021. The SHSC Committee is taking into
consideration the Covid 19 restrictions and any changes that may occur between now
and August next. The Committee may have to cancel the event or limit entry numbers. If
the number of boats needs to be limited priority for entry will be given to the following
categories of entries in the following order.

  1. SHSC members
  2. Entrants who have participated in Calves Week in any of the years 2017,
2018, 2019 in the order in which entries for the 2021 event are received.
  3. Other entries will be accepted in order of entry date.

The Organising Authority (OA) reserves the right to cancel the regatta or part thereof or to
decrease or increase the number of entrants in order to be compliant with Covid 19
guidelines in early August. The OA will endeavour to comply with Covid 19 guidelines at the
time of the event and this may require, amongst other things, the participants to register
their names and contact details for contact tracing.

Entrants to the event must comply with Covid 19 guidelines and must act on all reasonable
requests and directions issued by the OA and its officials in this regard.

RULES AND HANDICAPS
1.1 Racing will be governed by the “Rules” as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing
21-24 (RRS) with Irish Sailing and the Organising Authority (OA) is Schull Harbour
Sailing Club, and the following as appropriate:
         (a) The current rules of IRC.
         (b) The ECHO handicap rules.
         (c) White Sail Rules as defined in the Sailing Instructions

1.2 Each entry will be assigned an initial ECHO handicap based on current handicap
lists and data gathered from the various handicap authorities. A system
of progressive ECHO handicapping, where a boat’s handicap is
automatically adjusted on the basis of performance in each race, will apply.
The act of handicap adjustment or failure to adjust will not be grounds for redress.
The OA reserves the right to allocate an initial ECHO handicap, and any entrant’s
subsequent handicap, in the interest of fair competition between boats.

1.3 The White Sail class will be scored under ECHO and IRC.

1.4 Where there is a conflict between the NOR and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing
Instructions shall prevail except that neither shall change nor alter a Class rule.

ADVERTISING AND SPONSORSHIP
2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the OA and
will be bound by the requirements of any title sponsor.
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 Entry for the series is open to Cruisers in Spinnaker or White Sail Classes.

IRC entrants may sail with unendorsed certs.
All certs to have a validity date no later than the 25th July 2021.

3.2 The OA will decide on appropriate Classes and Class divisions and will have
absolute discretion to allocate boats to each Class.

3.3 For boats racing under IRC, Rule 22.4 is deleted.

3.4 Eligible boats may enter online via the Club website www.shsc.ie or by
completing the attached form and sending it with the required fee to

FERRIES
12.1 While we propose to operate a Ferry Service, we encourage competitors and
crew where possible to make their own arrangements for getting onto and off
         of their boats.

As the Ferry Service will have to operate in compliance with the Covid regulations of the
time we are not in a position at the moment to outline in detail the service which we can
offer. Details will be made available closer to the event.

To assist us in our planning please indicate on the entry form if you intend to avail of the
Ferry Service and the likely number of Crew.
