September 2020 20th Year Celebration and President’s Lunch. Payments today please: Carrington House $15, Albion Park $40 Last month’s speaker Clive Small gave a vivid talk about two criminals and a corrupt cop involved in the drug trade. After meeting at Thames Street Wharf we progressed two hundred metres to a lovely little coffee shop to fortify ourselves for the long climb up to Elkington Street Park where we enjoyed wonderful views to Cockatoo Island and parts of the Harbour. We then walked along a bush path by the edge of Dawn Fraser Pool and on to our next destination, Birchgrove Park where the first game of Rugby League was played in Australia (remember Keith Barnes) Next stop was Ballast Point Park which has been created where the old Caltex Depot was and ships from England used to dump Ballast before loading with wool, wheat etc. for the trip back to England. We had lunch there sitting on a wall overlooking Mort Bay, before returning to our cars at Mort Bay a Historic Wartime ship building and repair area 1
