MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR Glenelg Shire Council is proud to once again partner with Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) to present Hooked on Portland, the largest free fishing and seafood festival in the south west that celebrates Portland as a fishing and tourism hotspot. Now in its third year the festival continues to grow its offering of premier entertainment for all ages. This year’s schedule promises to be the biggest on record with rock icon, INXS and Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens headlining the main stage, and national fishing personality and Fishing Edge presenter Lee Rayner hosting the fishing talks and masterclasses. Hooked on Portland is also a celebration of our regional produce offerings – our fresh seafood and our fine food and wine experiences. I thank all of our local producers who contribute to our rich food culture that is showcased across a number of activities over the weekend. As Hooked on Portland continues to grow, so do the benefits of this significant event. In addition to the social benefits the festival provides, Hooked on Portland offers a vital tourism and economic stimulus for the region. Visitor spending has been equated to a estimated $2 million across the weekend long event, injecting substantial funds into our local economy, particularly our burgeoning tourism and hospitality sectors. There is no better way to enjoy the long weekend than at the Portland Foreshore. I look forward to seeing you out and about enjoying the many festivities. Remember to share your images and experiences with the hashtag #hookedonportland. Enjoy! Cr Mayor a R an k A n it SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR FESTIVAL FRIENDS
