Club Leaders Letter from President Cherie Curzon
       Charon Curzon Dear Deltarians:
       President
This has been another year for the books!
Times like this, make us ponder on many
things, like being thankful for all the good
Chris Walton in our lives, for the countless blessings,
President-Elect and all the amazing people that are in our
                               lives.
The same goes for all the wonderful
Rotarians in the Rotary Club of Eugene
Delta. Holidays are the perfect time to
Gael Coyle express my gratitude for you.
Secretary This has been a year of transition from
Zoom Meetings to In Person gatherings. In
Person has truly brought us back together
and was much needed for many of us. We
have experienced the loss of long-time
Laurie J Powers members. Among them, James Wildish, Liz Thwing, Ted Baker, and Jerry Thennell. In the midst of
Treasurer the loss, we have experienced the birth of Sandi Blacks grandson, Theodore, Claudette
McWilliam's grandchild and the most recent birth of Margie Anderson's precious daughter, Maisie
                               Mae.
Curtis Diama The world as we once knew it, has changed. We are all learning to cope with, work with and be a
Membership Chair productive part of the change. It isnt easy by any means, but we will come through to the other
                               side better than before.
Whatever you plan to do, and wherever you plan to be, I want to wish each one of you happy and
safe holidays. Thank you for your hard work and dedication this year. I look forward to seeing you
Anthony DeVico in the New Year 2022. Happy Holidays!

West Side Story the Delta Way
By Bruce Heldt
For our clubs Invoflection on December 17 th, Past President Bruce Heldt took us on a Delta West
Side Story Imagery. The Broadway Show, West Side Story was in 1957 and the original movie was
released in 1961. The new Steven Spielberg's West Side Story movie is true to the spirit of the

YOURE GETTING OUT OF YOUR CAR, ON YOUR WAY TO SERVING A MEAL AT HOSEA HOUSE, &
GRADUALLY, ONE AFTER ANOTHER . . . YOU SEE SEVERAL FELLOW DELTA ROTARIANS ARRIVING
FOR THE SAME PURPOSE . . . EXCEPT . . . EACH ONE IS WALKING RHYTHMICALLY, BENT OVER
SLIGHTLY, ALMOST DANCING . . . AND SNAPPING THEIR FINGERS. IN THE BACKGROUND, YOU
THINK YOU HEAR MUSIC, AND THEN . . .THEY START SINGING, AS THEY DANCE ALONG:
(Snapping fingers)
When youre in Rotary, .. you're a Rotarian all the way,
From your first club meeting, .to your last dying day.
When youre in Rotary, and things need getting done,
Youve got Rotarians around you, ..who will help get them done. (Stop snapping fingers)
You're never alone,.you're never disconnected, Boom Boom Boom,
You hang with your own, and just as expected .. you're well connected! Boom Boom Boom,

Tony Devico Selected as December Rotarian of the Month
By Gael Coyle
Tony has been a Rotarian for 13 years and
has been our Rotary Foundation Chair for
numerous years. Tony assists members in
making donations and in managing our
annual goal of 17,000. His efforts result in
bringing health and hope to areas ravaged
by disease, poverty, and poor water supply
                                     and sanitation. These contributions bring
                                     economic development and new
                                     opportunities to local and global
                                     communities.

Hosea Youth Services Gets New Refrigerator
By Gael Coyle
Kim Meyers, Past President, Eugene Delta Rotary, coordinated the delivery of the commercial
Reach-in Refrigerator on Tuesday, December 7. The refrigerator and freezer, not yet delivered,
were purchased through a Rotary District Grant. The Grant provided $2000, and Eugene Delta
Rotary Club of Eugene Delta
Rotary paid $2,337.75. Trevor Davies, son of Deltarian Tucker Davies, and others from Davies
Moving and Distribution Company delivered and installed the new double door forty-six cubic foot
capacity refrigerator. The company hauled away the 2 old residential refrigerators which had broken
drawers held together with duct tape. The new refrigerators and freezer will allow for the safe
storage of perishable foods, including dinner leftovers provided by volunteer meal groups. Eugene
Delta Meal Group and others intentionally make more food than is needed at dinner to help the
Hosea staff with hot lunch options. Hosea provides drop-in lunch and dinner services and helps
youth pack to-go meals for the weekends when the center is closed. In addition, the new cold
storage will decrease the need for continual ferrying of perishable goods from the Mission.

By Gael Coyle

each month. Eugene Delta recognizes each selectee with a certificate and $100. The club enjoyed
Olivia's and Duncan's brief talk about their school activities and plans for their upcoming year. We
                                                             wish them all the best.

Marian Kloster Volunteers Thanksgiving at the Mission
By Gael Coyle
Marian joined more than 80 volunteers to strip meat off 250 Turkeys prepared by the Mission chefs.
Staff, guests and volunteers fed 850 people during the feast and CAHOOTS delivered another 500
meals to unhoused people. The heaters arranged in advance were not necessary because it was a
beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the mid 50's. People gathered outside and enjoyed the
time socializing after long periods of isolation caused by the COVID pandemic. The event provided
the opportunity for Residents of the Mission to cook, serve and give to the community.
