30min THE LION’S MOUND © FTBW The Lion’s Mound gives a unique view of the battlefield after a memorable climb of 226 steps. A viewpoint indicator shows the positions being defended at the various stages in the battle. Perched atop this mound, the lion symbolizes the Battle of Waterloo. Its stunning interactive layout will make you feel as if you are in the very thick of the action. WELLINGTON MUSEUM The Wellington Museum boasts a large collection of souvenirs from the time of the battle, including the rooms occupied by Wellington and his aide de camp, authentic personal items, old weapons and period engravings. It has been completely revamped, with the focus being placed on the events of the night of 17 June, when Napoleon was issuing his final orders before the battle. With the English victory on 18 June 1815, the legend of Waterloo was born. A micro-brewery has been opened at Mont-Saint-Jean Farm, which was where the Duke of Wel- lington set up the English hospital during the battle in 1815.
