Exploring the world’s final frontier with Pure Mongolia 2021... Rally Round is thrilled to introduce you to an amazing new driving adventure – the Pure Mongolia Rally, running over three weeks in May 2021. Starting and finishing in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar (UB), the 5,000km rally will loop north, south, east and west to explore this remote, wildly beautiful and fascinating land. Internationally renowned route designer and Clerk of the Course Kim Bannister has previously run four major rallies through Mongolia and has long wished for an opportunity to explore the country more widely without the time pressures to move on to the next country. Visiting far-flung locations such as Ushglin Uvur, Amarbayasgalant, Ganga Lake and the Khongor Sand Dunes, the new event will include several rest days, the Mongolian countryside and entertainments such as a Naadam festival of horsemanship and archery. “Mongolia is surely the world’s final frontier,” says Kim Bannister, “and this might be the last opportunity to experience the country before its ancient traditions are extinguished”.

The route distance will be approximately 5,110 kms; this is subject to the result of the route survey due to take place in April/May 2019. The route will be defined in the Route Book issued to each competing crew which will provide them with all the information necessary to enable them to follow the mandatory route. Distances will be measured in kilometres and the Organisers times and distances are considered to be correct and not subject to protest. GPS waypoints will be used to define those parts of the route driving on dirt tracks. Considering the remote regions of the route Competitors should carry sufficient fuel for approximately 250 miles or 400 kilometres. The route will include Time Trials timed to the second, where progress will depend upon driver and navigator skill, judgement, and reliability.
