] The first couple weeks of the new year is always a challenge for me, but I like to shake off the excesses of the holiday season
and get back to the business of losing weight! ? I spent a lot of time this weekend testing out new foods, figuring out some
new recipes to keep me full and satisfied, all while providing enough variety to keep me from getting bored!

One of the questions I get asked the most is "What do you eat?"
The short answer is "Everything!" Through Weight Watchers, nothing is off-limits to me. Counting points, or eating from
the no count food list, is all about moderation. On Monday someone delivered an Edible Arrangement to my office, and I ate
a chocolate covered strawberry, because I could. Last week we had a seafood sauté for dinner and I had a piece of toasted
Kalamata olive bread. Because I could, sure, but also because it's delicious!

] On Wednesday, Mr. Big and I split a New York strip steak, which is one of my favorite dinners. Again, the steak fit in my
plan, so I ate it! But let me tell you what also happened on those days, to make those foods I really wanted possible: On
Monday when I have the chocolate covered strawberry, I ate no-count fruit for my snack in the afternoon, rather than
veggies and dip.

] I knew we had the olive bread in the house (because I bought it) so I designed a seafood dinner that was low in Smart
Points so I could enjoy a piece.

] And on Wednesday when we enjoyed a New York strip steak for dinner, I had a plain salad, rather than an appetizer, and I
exchanged the potatoes on our dinner for sautéed spinach. I could have eaten six chocolate covered strawberries, but one was
a nice treat. I could've eaten the olive bread with a big bowl of pasta, but the fresh seafood sautéed in a spicy red sauce was a
perfect complement to the salty bread. And I could've had mashed potatoes or a big appetizer, but I chose to eat the thing
that was important to me (hello the steak!) and built the rest of my meal around it.
If you have been craving the mashed potatoes more than the steak , start your menu plan with those, and swap in a lower
smart point protein, like chicken or turkey. If it's a bowl of pasta you want, try having some fish for lunch, to help balance
out your intake.
On Sundays before I hit the grocery store, I take a look at the week ahead. What night am I working late? What nights is
Mr. Big in meetings? Do I have events, or lunches out of the office?
I also ask myself what I have been craving, what great new recipe I want to try, or what meal is going to go best, considering
what is fresh and available this time of year?
Then I design a menu plan for my lunches and dinners that incorporates all the things I love, or the things that I've been
craving, while keeping me on point!
