Pierce County Fair Spring Virtual Showcase – May 1-31, 2022 • There is no entry fee for exhibiting in the Pierce County Fair Virtual Spring Showcase. • Entries can be made from a computer, tablet, or cell phone. • This is a fun fair with virtual Blue, Red, White, Cloverbud and Green ribbons given for most entries. • Exhibitors will receive a Pierce County Fair Virtual Spring Showcase ribbon for entering 5 or more entries. Ribbons will be available for pick up or will be mailed. • Still Life judging will be based on uploaded photos of each exhibit. Each class will have 1-4 chances to upload a photo or a video. Upload as many photos as allowed to give the judge the best views of your project.Some Classes/Lots have specific requirements for photos to be uploaded. • Animal classes may require a video of the exhibitor and their animal. We recommend using YouTube with the security setting of unlisted and not private. • Judging of exhibits are based on the Danish System that judges off of a standard and not against other exhibits • The exhibits for the Pierce County Fair Virtual Spring Showcase must have been produced since the 2021 Pierce County Fair. • Entries can be submitted May 1 - 31, 2022 and will be judged as they are submitted as judges’ schedules allow. • Results can be viewed at the link that will be sent to all exhibitors. Open Class exhibitors can get the results link from the Pierce County Fair Office. For youth protection we are not pub- lishing this link to the public. Feel free to share this link with family and friends. • Submitted projects may be shared with the general public. Exhibitor names will not be used for exhibits shared with the public. • Still Life Project enrollment will not be checked in 4-H classes, so feel free to enter as many items as allowed in all classes and lots. Try out a new project. • Judges feedback may be provided in FairEntry or by e-mail. You can log into FairEntry and check for judges comments by opening each exhibit. 4-H Animals Projects • These Departments and Classes require active enrollment in a 4-H project. • Animals Must be in 4HOnline prior to enter animal projects. Alumni exhibitors may add their animals in FairEntry • Entries are made by uploading photos or video links to FairEntry. We recommend using YouTube set on the “Unlisted” setting. If you use the “Private” setting the judges will not be able to view your video. • Log back into FairEntry to see the comments from the judge, so you can improve your performance at the Pierce County Fair. • The limit is one entry per class for animal projects. 4-H Poultry Department Class: 4001. Showmanship • Video, approximately 3-7 minutes long, of the youth demonstrating and describing proper handling tech- niques. Complexity and length of video should be appropriate for age/lot entered. Cavy Department Class 4501: Fitting and Showmanship • Video, approximately 5 minutes long, of the youth going through the ACBA showmanship routine found here: https://arba.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/cavy_scoresheet.pdf • Animal should be fitted as appropriate for the show and the exhibitor needs to be in show attire. Video should show the youth demonstrating each showmanship element as described in the ACBA showmanship scorecard. Additionally, each contestant will have a 5-7 minute showmanship interview to be scheduled individually. You must submit a video and complete the interview to be eligible for virtual Ribbons. Lot: 1. Pets Department Class 5501: Fitting and Showmanship • Image, video (2-3 minutes, and/or PowerPoint presentation (5 slides or less) of youth pre- senting the animal. Image, video, or presentation should show youth showing the animal in pose, doing a vet check, naming parts of animal, breed/ variety of animal, history of ani- mal (where it’s from, etc...), naming DQ’s, weights, etc... Rabbit Department Class 4551: Fitting and Showmanship • Fitting & Showmanship Tips: Image, video (2-3 minutes, and/or PowerPoint presenta- tion (5 slides or less) of youth presenting the animal **ANIMAL MUST BE ENTERED IN- TO TYPE also.** Image, video, and / or presentation should be according to the ARBA standards. Dog Department Class 4480: Trick Dog • Must video each trick and submit. See list of tricks for each Lot. • List for the different tricks in this class can be found below. Advanced Tricks Class 4467: Costume Contest • Take 2-3 pictures or a short video of your dog from different angles in their costume. • Have fun with this and dress up your dog. You can dress up also! 4-H Goat Department General Rules • All goat types are eligible for this fun class; there are no goat breed or project specifications for this class. One goat entry per 4-H member. Members enrolled in multiple goat projects may only enter one goat total. • Cloverbuds are eligible for this fun class and will receive a virtual participation ribbon. The goat they use can be up to 23 inches in height and weigh no more than 65 pounds. • Showcase attire consists of weather appropriate clean clothing: shirt, long pants or leggings with- out holes, closed toe shoes, long hair pulled back. These are items that members should be able to pull from their closets; there is no need to purchase specific clothing for this fun class. • Animals should be clean with neatly trimmed hooves. • All videos must first be uploaded to YouTube. The settings need to be unlisted and not private. Unlisted means you need a link to view the video. Once the video is uploaded, you copy the URL and paste it in the appropriate place in Fairentry.com. If you do not have access to a YouTube ac- count, please email Piercecounty4hgoats@gmail.com for help. • With videos, the person filming, or an extra person standing on the sidelines, may only read aloud the next maneuver on the list, without explaining or coaching the maneuver. Video must be sub- mitted with audio. Class 4862: Goat Fun Class Lot: 1. Junior 4. Cloverbud 2. Intermediate 5. Alumni 3. Senior 6: Parent A single video is preferred, but if you cannot upload a single video (file size too large), please upload into two parts with the break after the hoof and body part identification, and before the fun list and re- lease into pasture. • The video will begin with the member approaching the goat and taking them by the collar. Clover- buds will begin the video already holding the goat by the collar. • Introduce yourself (first name only), and how long you have been in the goat project. • Give goat’s name, age, breed and the purpose of that specific goat. • Demonstrate your goat walking with you. • Stop and pick up and show the bottom of a neatly trimmed hoof. While stopped please show and name three more body parts. For this section the Cloverbud’s parent or older 4-H member may hold the goat. • Fun Times Training Your Goat: Include three activities that demonstrate you working and having fun with your goat. These can be activities from the list below or activities of your own choosing. Standing on hind legs Lying down or sit on command Hopping onto stand or another item Loading in a vehicle Doing dishes :o) Following handler off lead Goat backing up Stand and stay for 3 seconds • Final activity is to release goat into field or pen. Don’t forget to close the gate ;o) 8
