Better Bones Information Better Bones is a FREE, 60-minute program for people age 55 and older. The class focuses on maintaining bone density while improving strength, flexibility and balance. Some exercises are done seated. Classes are ongoing throughout the year and offered at four locations. Because this is a popular class, you are not guaranteed a spot. Some locations may be full. If the class is already full, you will be notified by phone. Senior Fit Information Senior Fit is a FREE, 45-minute exercise program for adults age 55+ that focuses on strength, balance, agility and cardiovascular fitness. Senior Fit is offered at 24 accessible locations in Montgomery County; Prince George’s County; and Washington, D.C. (see page 2), in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, MGN Family Foundation, the Montgomery County Department of Recreation, Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission, Asbury Methodist Village, and local churches. Regular exercise helps seniors to prevent falls, manage chronic illness and achieve their best quality of life. Our Senior Fit instructors are certified fitness professionals who have experience working with individuals age 55 and older. Participants at Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center should check the center’s monthly calendar for additional holidays and closings. 1 Moving Life Ahead SM

Waiver Requirements Senior Fit and Better Bones classes both require a Participant Annual Information Update and Release of Claims waiver to attend (see page 4). Once you register and agree to the waiver’s terms, you will receive a Senior Fit/Better Bones card in the mail, which takes 10 to 14 business days. Inclement Weather Policy Because Senior Fit and Better Bones classes are offered at several locations and inclement weather can vary from community to community, please review the following information regarding cancellations: • If schools are closed in the community where your class is held, class will be cancelled that day. 2020 Participant Annual Information Update and Release of Claims I understand that this physical fitness program is a group exercise activity that may include exercises to build the cardio respiratory system (heart and lungs) and the musculoskeletal system (muscle endurance, strength and flexibility). Exercises may include but are not limited to high- or low-impact aerobics, strength training, stretching, balance and coordination postures. There are potential risks with any exercise program. I hereby certify that I know of no medical problems and accept any risk of illness or injury as a result of my participation in this exercise program. I understand that it is my responsibility to consult my physician prior to beginning any new exercise regimen.
