1000 Minnesota Ave Stevens Point, WI 54481 (715) 346-1576 stevenspoint.com/skate WELCOME to the 2019-2020 Skating Season! If you are a returning class participant you may notice a great new logo as well as some changes to the levels offered and the curriculum. Stevens Point School of Skating at the Willett is excited to transition to the Learn to Skate USA Program. Here’s what it’s all about: WHY CHANGE? The mission of Learn to Skate USA is to provide a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating. The foundation of the program is based in fun, safe and solid skill progression that provides all skaters the necessary tools to reach their goal be it recreational or competitive. Learn to Skate USA is the only skating program endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating. The progression of skill development was adjusted allowing skaters to more efficiently build and master fundamental skating skills so they will be successful with any ice skating sport they choose. All of the Instructors teaching classes for the Stevens Point School of Skating at the Willett have studied the new curriculum. As the returning students make the transition to the new curriculum with us, the instructors may shuffle them into the class level that is now most appropriate for them. We will continue to make sure that all students are always in the proper class and we will continue to advance students within a session as soon as their class instructor feels that they are ready. Please understand that it is not uncommon to repeat the same level multiple times. All skaters progress at their own level. We strive to provide only the best for our program participants and THAT is why we are so excited to introduce YOU to Learn to Skate USA! Please watch your mailbox for your welcome packet. Every packet contains a skater record book to track progress through the program, a parent handbook, a membership card, and a Learn to Skate USA magazine filled with helpful information about all aspects of skating. As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Thank you for skating with us!
