Community College at Wesley Who Are We? The Community College at Wesley provide for a myriad of activities that occur outside normal school hours. We offer a range of programs designed to support families, encourage individual learning and provide positive outcomes for the Wesley and broader community. Coding & Robotics Program Day & Time: Monday 3.20pm to 4.20pm Cost: $225.00 Dates: 8 February - 29 March (excluding 8 March) Location: Junior School Library Suitable ages: Year 1 - Year 2: Beginner Coding & Robotics Year 3 - Year 4: Intermediate Coding & Robotics This exciting digital technology program covers a breadth of coding, robotics and technology outcomes. The program begins with computational thinking, basic unplugged and screen-based coding then progresses all the way through to advanced LEGO©Technik robotics. Your child will experience a range of digital education platforms using technologies such as mBot, iPad, Scratch, laptops, LEGO© and more. Registration online before classes commence is compulsory. Gymnastics Day & Time: Monday - Saturday (Beginner classes for Prep - Year 4 students) Location: Middle & Senior School campus Gymnasium Melbourne Gymnastics Centre is a newly branded gymnastics business operating in what has previously been known as Wesley Lions. Our passion is driven from child development and the love of gymnastics. The sport brings great challenge, skill, achievement, empowerment and strength which teaches lifelong skills within and beyond the gym. Being able to assist in enhancing people’s lives brings us great satisfaction and encouragement to continue to evolve. We pride ourselves on offering friendly, safe and inviting venues for people to achieve their fullest potential in any program they are involved in. The gymnasium has been freshly renovated and fully equipped with a high standard of artistic gymnastics apparatus including a sprung floor, in-ground trampoline, tumble tramp, foam pit and a variety of teaching aids for high quality training. Chess Day & Time: Tuesday 3.20pm to 4.10pm Cost: Group 1: Beginners Dates: Group 2: Advanced Cost: $165.00 Dates: 9 February - 30 March Location: Junior School Library Suitable Ages: Year 1 - Year 4 Chess is great for developing strategic thinking skills, improved self-esteem, an increased attention span in class, lateral thinking, teamwork and analytical skills. Join Phil as he teaches the strategies of this great game while setting up a tournament play off. Prizes are awarded at the end of the term. Basketball Day & Time: Tuesday, Friday and Saturday Location: Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre Cost: Approximately $80.00 per term (dependent on the number of players) Wesley Junior Basketball is an additional competitive sporting option for current or enrolled Wesley students from Years 1 - 6. Teams of between 6 – 9 players are formed at each year level and can be single sex or mixed. Teams compete in the Playball Competition on Tuesdays (Years 4 – 6) or Fridays (Years 1 – 4). They also compete in the Port Phillip Basketball Association competition on Saturday afternoons. Wesley Junior Basketball relies on parent support for team managers and coaches. Tennis Day & Time: Wednesday 3.20pm - 4.20pm Cost: $250.00 (no refunds or transfers available) Dates: 10 February - 31 March Location: Junior School Basketball Court Suitable Ages: Prep - Year 4 XSOAR Perform is a peak performance company that delivers specialised tennis training programs to empower young tennis players to “break boundaries” so they can unleash their true potential. The program is designed to progressively build and accelerate the student’s technical and tactical skills throughout the term and over the course of the year. Children must wear sporting appropriate clothing, footwear and hat. Limited spots are available. In the event of extreme weather conditions, activities may happen indoors in the Great Space or Multi Purpose Room, and children can be collected from there instead. Karate Day & Time: Thursday 3.20pm to 4.20pm Cost: $260.00 Dates: 11 February - 1 April Location: Junior School Multi Purpose Room Suitable Ages: Prep - Year 4 At Kids Unlimited, we focus on incorporating martial arts skills into a holistic approach to self-defence and personal development. Your child will practise the important life skills of respect, confidence, self- control, discipline and dedication via the physical teachings of martial arts - self-defence, improving motor skills, coordination and general fitness. We also reinforce values that you will be teaching your children at home, such as self-respect, how to avoid and deal with bullying and, most importantly, when to use their martial arts training. Important Information Enrolments For all program dates, times or any additional information, please contact the Program Coordinators. Please ensure that you have registered your child before they attend any After School Classes. This allows the provider adequate time to prepare staffing requirements. • Chess enrolments will be booked through the Community College via the enrolment form in this brochure. Please complete the enrolment form and send it to community@wesleycollege.edu.au • Please contact the relevant Program Coodinator if you wish to enrol in any of the other After School Classes listed • Enrolments will only be accepted up until the third week of classes • If your child attends two or more sessions, you will be charged for the whole term Cancellations No administration fee will apply to cancellations made prior to the start of term. No refunds will be given once the program has begun. Late pick up All students who are not collected by their parents from their after school class will be taken to the Extend Aftercare program. As this is run by an external provider, we encourage all children to be registered with them, in the event you are late in collecting your child. If your child needs to go to the Extend program, you will be charged the relevant fee for the service.
