Our Goals To promote and foster a love of learning through the medium of sport and physical activity. To help provide the necessary values and skills for students to develop as a lifelong learner. To develop the skills of collaboration, self management, critical thinking and leadership.
How are you different to a Sports Academy? Learning Through Sport Other Sports Academy's • Available to every student • Available only to the elite • Focused on learning • Focused on training • Being involved in and • High performance staying in sport • Only PE & Sport focused • All Curriculum Subjects Covered
Frequently Asked Questions Q: Does my child need to be a top athlete? Q: My child currently receives learning support, is this still available? A: No. They just need to love sport. A: Yes absolutely, as well as extension opportunities. Q: Will my child miss out on any academic opportunities? Q: What is the LTS approach to integration? A: No. They will still cover all aspects of the NZ Curriculum. They will also be able to participate in A: Integration is organic and there are cross-overs Academic and Cultural clubs at Papamoa College in content and application of content between subjects. Q: We can’t afford a range of codes throughout the year, does this matter? Q: My child is not currently in the LMS LTS class, can they still apply? A: No. We will navigate situations on a case by case basis. A: YES – of course
