Ronald McDonald House Youth Leadership Board 2019 - 2020 Mission Statement Ronald McDonald House “Red Shoe KREWE” is a group of young men and women committed to promoting volunteerism by serving the families residing at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, Alabama. Membership is open to high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to helping the families who come to Mobile seeking medical care for their critically ill children. Young adults who are selected for membership to this leadership board will have the opportunity of developing self-confidence and leadership skills while engaging in age appropriate activities designed to meet the unique needs of our community. The KREWE members not only gain life- enhancing skills but also experience the fulfillment that comes from the sharing of one’s time and talents with others. Selection Process Membership is open to rising juniors and seniors in area high schools. Most members will be active for two years. The Selection Committee will consist of Ronald McDonald House staff and one or more members of the Board of Directors. This committee determines the finalists who are to be interviewed for the available openings on the board.
RMHC Krewe Requirements and Responsiblities 1. Attend regularly scheduled meetings, beginning in August and ending in May, missing no more than two unexcused meetings in the academic year. If a KREWE member learns that he/she will have to miss a meeting he/she is required to e-mail, call or text the house and/or president to obtain an “excused absence.” 2. Attend committee meetings on an as-needed basis. 3. Volunteer a minimum of 30 hours per academic year. 4. Represent Ronald McDonald House of Mobile as an “official Ambassador” at various community service events and fundraisers. 5. Raise visibility and awareness of RMHC at his/her school. 6. Assume a leadership position each year bay serving as an officer, a chair or a co-chair of one event/committee. 7. Serve on the committee of at least one other event. 8. Maintain WEEKLY contact with RMHC Advisors through e-mail/text. 9. Have fun while helping our guests. If it ever is not fun, please let us know so that we may fix it.
