Aim of this presentation • Help explain the process of the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) • Ensure all parents and students are fully informed and aware of the specific exam requirements. • Provide clarity (with examples) of practical performances and video expectations.
Breakdown of GCSE Final Grade (Practical) 3 x sports = 30% (Coursework) 1 x written = 10% (Theory) 1 x 1.5hr exam = 30% 1 x 1.5hr exam = 30%
Practical Assessments – IN SCHOOL ‘Usually’ • Football • Rugby • Hockey • Netball • Handball • Each student will receive a mark out of 25 • Video evidence will be collected to justify marks for the exam board.
Why………………..? Does it appear so difficult to get full marks when my child is really good? • 23/25 = Grade 9 (equivalent to A**) – exceptional performance • 17/25 = Grade 5 (equivalent to high C) – good standard
What if……………….. Teacher has awarded 15/25 but my son plays football for Leeds Utd and surely must be full marks?
What if……………….. FURTHER VIDEO EVIDENCE NEEDED! If your son/daughter is playing at a higher standard outside of school additional video footage must be submitted. + Footage in school Supporting footage
What if……………….. My child does an activity/sport outside of school that can’t be completed in school (golf, horse riding, diving) • VIDEO VIDEOEVIDENCE EVIDENCENEEDED! NEEDED!
What is needed in the video evidence? Each Practical Assessment: • Drills/skills (Part 1) out of 10 • Full competitive context/match/event (Part 2) out of 15
GCSE PE Specification Where do I find out what the specific skills are? AQA GCSE PE Specification All students have access to this via Showbie Also can be found via link: https://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/physical-education/gcse/physical- education-8582
