Eligibility Requirements • Applicants must meet all requirements to qualify • All information related to PROMISE on CFWV.com/promise 16
Application Requirements • 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed by March 1, 2021 at www.fafsa.gov • PROMISE Scholarship application must be completed on-line by March 1, 2021 at www.cfwv.com/promise • Students who miss the deadline, can still apply and will be considered for a spring award. Awards are contingent upon funding. 17
GPA Requirements • 3.0 Overall GPA • 3.0 Core GPA (Includes only English, math, science, and history coursework) • Updated Core Course List on CFWV under Core Course Requirements • Qualify with 6th or 7th semester grades but must maintain eligible GPA through final semester • Grades are automatically received for public high school students through grade file submission (PRM.DTA file) • Exception: Early graduates may need to send a grade report form and final transcript • Private high school/ Homeschool / Eligible Commuters/ Military Dependents/ Members of Armed Services must submit a grade report form and transcript. 18
Test Score Requirement • ACT OR SAT • 22 ACT Composite with a minimum 20 in each subject area • 1100 SAT Total Score with minimum of 530 EBRW and 520 Math • Must qualify on one test sitting. No Super scoring! • Final Test Dates to Qualify • July 2021 ACT • August 2021 SAT 19
Additional Eligibility Requirements • Must graduate from a WV high school (public/private or homeschool) and complete half of the requirements for graduation at a WV High School • Must complete the Core Course Requirements for graduation • Confirmed on the Grade File (PRM.DTA report) • Must be a West Virginia Resident at least 12 months before application deadline. • Exception made for Military Dependents and Eligible Commuters 20
Additional Eligibility Requirements • Must apply within two years of high school graduation, additional time for those in U.S. Armed forces • Only full-time first-year students may receive an initial award. Students already enrolled at a higher education institution are not eligible to apply. • Option pathway students must qualify with GPA and TASC scores • Must meet all other requirements to qualify, including GPA and test score. 21
Application • Apply, Edit, or Check the status of your PROMISE Scholarship application on the WVSAM system • Students need to ensure they use the correct SSN • Students will create a username (email), password, and security question. Then they will complete the PROMISE application • Applicant gets a confirmation page once the application is complete. Also emailed. 22

PROMISE Award • Awards Cover Tuition and Mandatory Fees at eligible institution up to $4,750 per year. • Limit of 4 semesters towards and Associate’s degree program • Limit of 8 semester towards a Bachelor’s degree program • Community service is highly encouraged. • Students have 6 years after being awarded to utilize their PROMISE eligibility (military service 33 exception)
PROMISE Award • Cannot be used outside WV. • Can attend out-of-state for up to 1 year and come back and regain PROMISE if meets eligibility requirements. • Must apply to be eligible 34
PROMISE Renewal Requirements • Maintains a 2.75 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale the first year and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in subsequent years. • Cumulative gpa includes all college level courses a student has taken • Earns a minimum of 30 credit hours in an academic year for a student who receives a two-semester award in an academic year. • If a student receives a single-semester award, the student must complete and earn a minimum of 15 credit hours in the academic year. • Academic year = fall, following spring, and following summer terms 35
Counselors Role: • Help students file application and FAFSA by March 1, 2021 • Check FAMS for applicants by February 14 • Grade File Submission (PRM.DTA report) • 7th grade file is due February 14 • 8th grade file is with End of May/Early June • Review FAMS for errors 36
