This is true because of the members who have joined in and become part of a committee to put an event together. Joining a committee is fun and rewarding. When you have the power of many the tasks are minor and the job is done with ease. When you renew your Membership for 2018 be sure to indicate which committee you are interested in and your phone number. The Chairperson of the committee will call you for meetings. YEARS OF SHEPHERDING~
The region has been conditioned in numerous ways; the morphology of both the natural and agricultural land-
scape, the localization and urban structure of the inhabited centers, the ancient communication route, Transhu-
mance, that ancient seasonal migration of shepherds and sheep from the Apennine pastures to the Apulian
Tavoliere plain along the sheep tracks, has been a constant presence in Abruzzo’s history since the e time of the
Punic Wars, and from Roman times was even legislated. Abruzzese territory still shows signs of that coming and
going of humans and flocks: sections of the ancient sheep track are still visible, as on the Navelli Plain, cutting
through the relics of ancient towns like Peltuinum, marking the sates of the journey. The extensive plateau, fa-
mous for its fine, precious saffron, is now marked by the enigmatic presence of sheep track churches, simple iso-
late architectures, that identified the stopovers of the shepherds’ long, tiring trudge down to Apulia. It is along the
sheep track routes that we find the compact ancient Medieval villages, bare stone architecture hugging high slopes,
with housed huddling together to create a boundary that protected the settlements with an extremely efficient de-
fense structure; settlements with their own special wealth, evident in the extraordinary architectural culture and
numerous widespread art testimonies that denoted, above all, flourishing sheep
rearing activities. Then there is a singular section of mid mountain Abruzzo,
marked by terraces and dry stone shacks, the patient work o our forefathers,
who sought to wrest from the mountain scraps of land and tiny pastures. The
tholos, numerous even today, especially on Majella, validate
Abruzzo's rightful role as one of the Mediterranean areas marked by the pres-
ence of dry stone constructions, a primitive yet effective building technique.

CICLOVIA: PEPE, OK A FONDI PER IL PONTE SUL
TORDINO
(REGFLASH) Pescara, 26 apr. - Si è svolto, nei giorni scorsi, un incontro per individuare le risorse
economiche necessarie per i lavori di manutenzione del ponte ciclopedonale in legno sul fiume
Tordino, tra i comuni di Roseto e Giulianova. Al tavolo di lavoro hanno partecipato gli assessori
Dino Pepe e Giorgio D'Ignazio.
"Abbiamo voluto questo incontro - osserva l'assessore Dino Pepe - al termine di una istruttoria
interna con il direttore regionale Francesco Di Filippo, il quale si occupa della gestione delle attività inerenti la delega al cicloturismo, volta a
studiare la fattibilità dell'intervento che si inserisce nella più ampia problematica della manutenzione dei ponti ciclabili, snodi fondamentali per la pi-
ena fruibilità del tracciato ciclabile abruzzese, tanto apprezzato a livello nazionale. In tal senso - ha aggiunto Pepe - si è ritenuto di utilizzare alcune
risorse disponibili per fronteggiare questa criticità. Voglio ricordare che sono state tante le risorse destinate dalla Regione Abruzzo su questo
tema. Mi riferisco, in particolare, a quelle destinate alla realizzazione del ponte sul Tronto, strategico collegamento con le Marche, e per la siste-
mazione dei ponti tra Villa Rosa ed Alba Adriatica e tra Tortoreto e Giulianova. Ora questa ulteriore esigenza - continua l'assessore Pepe - che
mi è stata sollevata dal Comitato del quartiere Annunziata di Giulianova, dai sindaci dei Comuni interessati, dai consiglieri provin-
ciali referenti territoriali, ma anche e soprattutto da tanta gente comune che in modo straordinario ed inaspettato difende e promuove questi tratti
ciclabili capaci di mettere in evidenza scorci bellissimi delle nostre città costiere diventando biglietti da visita unici nel panorama adriatico".
In Abruzzo sono stati tutti appaltati i 21 progetti programmati per un investimento complessivo che ammonta a quasi 34 milioni e 465mila euro e
sono iniziati i lavori del più imponente dei cantieri, la "Via verde della Costa dei Trabocchi", un unico appalto di ben 40 km sulla spettacolare ex
ferrovia.
"Ora - afferma Pepe - ci concentriamo su una nuova sfida dopo l'inserimento dell'Abruzzo nel più ampio snodo della ciclovia adriatica, i cui lavori
sono finanziati dal Governo, e compre l'intero tracciato dal Veneto alla Puglia". (REGFLASH) US/180426

BOSCO (REGFLASH) Pescara, 30 apr. Enrico Paolini, ex vice presidente della Giunta regionale con delega al
Turismo, è stato nominato dall'assemblea dei soci presidente del nuovo consiglio di amministrazione della Saga,
la società che gestisce l'aeroporto d'Abruzzo e di cui la Regione detiene la quasi totalità delle azioni.
Questa mattina, a Pescara, in Regione, la conferenza stampa di presentazione dei nuovi membri del Cda presieduta dal presidente della Giunta re-
gionale, Luciano D'Alfonso. Un incontro al quale hanno preso parte anche l'assessore al Bilancio, Silvio Paolucci, ed il presidente uscente del CdA
SAGA, Nicola Mattoscio.Vice presidente è stato nominato l'imprenditore del settore alberghiero, Emilio Schirato, mentre i nuovi consiglieri saranno
l'ex consigliere regionale, Antonella Bosco, e la funzionaria regionale del Dipartimento trasporti, Evelina D'Avolio. Conferrmato nel Cda l'imprendi-
tore dolciario Stefano Menozzi"Un rinnovamento - ha spiegato D'Alfonso - reso necessario dalla conclusione del mandato presieduto da Mattoscio.
A lui ed alla sua squadra - ha proseguito - va il mio ringraziamento per aver portato avanti il risanamento economico-finanziario dell'organo e della
persona giuridica della SAGA come si evincxe dall'odierna approvazione degli atti contabili di gestione".Il presidente della Giunta ha fatto anche
notare che, "per la prima volta, nell'arco degli ultimi tre anni, si registra un utile netto di esercizio oltre a tangibili risultati di gestione che hanno la
denominazione della connettività aerea che abbiamo saputo confermare. Mi riferisco - ha sottolineato - alla soluzione della crisi con Ryanair ed ai
collegamenti che abbiamo saputo confermare".Riguardo al compenso per l'impegno dei consiglieri di amministrazione, D'Alfonso ha chiarito che "si
tratterà di un ristoro prevalentemente morale in quanto abbiamo mantenuto l'onere economico all'interno dei 44 mila euro per tutte le figure". Una
scelta che ricalca quella fatta, a suo tempo, dal "presidente uscente che ha operato in termini di assoluta gratuità".Ancora D'Alfonso. "Da questa
nuova fase 3.0, mi aspetto il consolidamento dei risultati ed un ulteriore slancio verso nuove frontiere in termini di ulteriori destinazioni turistiche da
raggiungere". Il punto di partenza, secondo D'Alfonso,è rappresentato dalla mole di finanziamenti per le infrastrutture che mai si è verificata nella
storia dell'Aeroporto d'Abruzzo e culminerà nella concretizzazione della connettività del ferro.Così come il Presidente ha rimarcato "la rinnovata
collaborazione istituzionale con l'amministrazione comunale di San Giovanni Teatino e la piena sintonia con l'Enac".Infine, i numeri più significativi
della passata gestione: tutti e tre gli esercizi finanziari chiusi in attivo con l'ultimo che ha fatto registrare quasi 400 mila euro di segno più, un volume
di traffico passeggeri passato dai 556 mila del 2014, l'ultimo anno della vecchia governance, ai 668 mila del 2017 cui vanno aggiunti 2500 passeggeri
in capo all'aviazione generale con una crescita relativa al 2017 del 16%.
Infine, dei 33 milioni euro destinati a vario titolo dalla Regione alla società Saga per l'ammodernamento ed il completamento infrastrutturale, emerge
il dato di 13 milioni di euro di interventi già appaltati ed altri in corso di definizione. (REGFLASH) DURA180430

To be eligible to apply and compete for a scholarship, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
Applicants must be of Italian / Abruzzese ancestry.
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, or full-time undergraduate students attending an accred-
ited college or university and working toward a two or four year degree.
High school applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. College/university applicants
must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
Parent or legal guardian must be an active member in good standing of the Federazione Abruzzese del
Michigan for at least 12 months immediately prior to the date of this application.
The parent/legal guardian or the scholarship recipient must attend at least three (3) FADM function/event
(s), such as Gala, Christmas party, etc. per calendar year (unless in the case of an emergency or ab-
sence excused by the FADM Board of Directors). This qualification must be completed by the Schol-
arship Application deadline as determined by the Board of Directors.
The student recipient of a scholarship award must be present at the award dinner to accept the scholar-
ship (unless in the case of an emergency or absence excused by the FADM Board of Directors).
APPLICATION REVIEW:
In reviewing the scholarship applications, the Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan Scholarship Committee con-
siders the following factors:
The applicant’s scholastic record.
The applicant’s community service record.
The applicant’s participation in extracurricular activities.
The applicant’s work experience.
The applicant’s references and recommendations.
The applicant’s status as a high school senior.
Other scholarships received by the applicant.
The applicant’s participation in FADM activities.
Any extraordinary circumstances.
The Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan Scholarship is renewable on a competitive basis. Continuing students
must reapply annually.

Si comunica che l'INPS ha iniziato una campagna di rilevazione dell'esistenza in vita dei pensionati residenti in Nord
America.
Sono esclusi dal fornire la prova di esistenza in vita le seguenti categorie di pensionati:
A) - quelli che ricevono un unico pagamento annuale, per i quali la verifica sara' fatta con cadenza biennale (questi
ultimi saranno quindi sotto posti a verifica solo nella seconda parte del 20 18) ;
B) - i titolari di un trattamento pensionistico INPS e di una prestazione a carico degli enti previdenziali tedeschi e
svizzeri, i cui dati sono direttamente rilevati e comunicati all'INPS dalle suddette istituzioni;
C) - i pensionati che sono stati pagati attraverso gli sportelli della Western Union nei mesi di maggio e giugno 2017;
D) - i pensionat i gia' sospesi da Citibank nel proprio "databa se ";
E) - i beneficiari che di propria iniziativa hanno fornito a Citibank o all'INPS una valida attestazione/certificazione
d'esistenza in vita di data recente (cioe' tra maggio e giugno 2017).
I moduli standard e alte rnativi di attestazione dell'esistenza in vita compila ti dai pensionati e controfirmati da un notary
public, unitamente alla documentazione di supporto, dovranno essere restituiti a Citibank, eventualmente corredati delle
cettificazioni di esistenza in vita emesse da enti pubblici locali, a condizio ne che le medesime cosliluiscano valida
attestazione dell'esis tenza in vita ai sensi della legge del Paese di residenza del pensionato. In tali casi, per facilitare la
gestione delle procedure di validazio ne dell'attestazione, e necessario che le certificazioni rilasciate da Autorita locali
siano inviate a Citibank unitarriente al modulo di attestazione dell'esistenza in vita predisposto dalla stessa Citibank,
compilato dal pensionato.
Le attestazioni dovranno pervenire a Citibank entro i primi giorni del mese di luglio 2018. Il pagamento della rata di agosto
2018, per coloro che non attestassero l'esistenza in vita nel predetto termine, avverra in contanti presso le agenzie Western
Union del Paese di residenza e, in caso di mancata riscossione personale entro il giorno 19 agosto, il pagamento della
pensione sara' sospeso a partire dalla rata di settembre 2018 .
