The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Foundation will be hosting its third-annual
fundraising event, Fire & Ice: Havana Nights, on January 28, 2022.This will take place at
Milestones Barn in Warrensburg, Missouri, and will feature all of the classic casino games
including the following: Black Jack, Texas Hold ‘Em, the Money Wheel, Let it Ride, CRAPS, and
Roulette. Each attendee will get tokens for playing casino games, access to an open bar and
decadent hors d’oeuvres. There is no actual money involved, but instead a chance to turn in the
tokens won at the end of the night for a chance to go home with a prize. At the end of the night,
we will conclude with a live auction filled with unique experiences.
While we were not able to host our annual event in January of 2021, we still had a lofty goal to
raise $250,000 to remodel our Operating Rooms. We were able to host a one-time summer
event, Cirque du Soiree, which took place in July. At this event, our tickets sold out and were
able to raise over $40,000! We were completely overwhelmed by the amount of support from
our local community members and businesses for this first-ever fundraising event, and in return
we were able to offer a one-of-a-kind experience for our attendees.
In the midst of the pandemic, we discovered how vulnerable health systems truly are. Now
perhaps more than ever it’s incredibly important for development and philanthropy to thrive. In
years past, we have raised a combined total of over $150,000 at our annual events and
count on the large fundraisers to underwrite our projects. This year, we will be moving forward
with Fire & Ice which has proven to be a premier event in Warrensburg and Johnson County
alike. We are excited to get back to planning Fire & Ice and will continue to offer a unique
experience for our community members, and remain safe while doing so.
