SEA MONKEYS SWIM TEAM Swim Team This is a great opportunity for youth to experience a Swim Team environment, by building on the skills taught in swim lesson programs. We aim to improve the technique and endurance of swimmers, while preparing them for future competitive swimming levels. • ALL participants MUST be able to swim 25-50 yards without stopping. • We strongly encourage everyone to have passed at least level 3 of swim lessons before joining. • Joining can happen throughout the summer, we leave registration open most of the summer or until it is full. • We will be having 2 swim meets for each group beside just the daily practice, these will be inter-squad meets involving 2 of the different time sessions over the course of the summer. • The only special equipment that a swimmer needs to provide for themselves is goggles. • Also with this program it is not a problem if you have to miss a couple of days. The class will include a classroom portion, where participants will learn diving safety and best practices, followed by pool time where participants will practice scuba diving in full gear. Although not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba will show you what it feels like to breathe un- derwater, and help you learn the key skills that you’ll use while diving. This class is a great steppingstone, and upon conclusion of the class participants should have a better idea of their interest in pursuing a full dive certification. Instructor Jim Hackiewicz has been diving 41 years and is certified through multi-agencies as a master scuba and commercial dive instructor. Jim was awarded the Elite Instructor award from PADI in 2020 and has done dive trips in 6 of the 7 seas. He hopes to show you how it feels to have superpowers and breath underwater.
