Bay Village Page 5 Family Aquatic Center The pool is a non-smoking/tobacco/alcohol free facility. Children 10 years and under must be accompanied by an individual 14 years or older. Must be 11 years old to come to the pool alone. Children under 48” are permitted to swim in the toddler area or in the main pool with an adult. * Only one child per adult in the main pool at a time * Children under 48” must pass a swim test to swim in the main pool alone. (Wristband is required.) Proper swim attire required: SWIM SUITS ONLY! Persons with sores, open wounds, rashes or bandages will not be permitted in the pool. Pool closes at 9:00 p.m. * Guards clear the pool nightly at 8:50 p.m. * All patrons must leave the premises by 9:00 p.m. Playground Area: * Age appropriate * Opens at noon; closes at 8:50 p.m. Rest periods occur on the top of each hour for 15 minutes. The following things are prohibited: floatation devices, glass objects, snorkels and masks, chewing gum. No horseplay allowed (No running, dunking, pushing, playing on ropes, snapping towels, etc.) No profanity allowed. This is a family facility. Flippers and goggles permitted. Learn to Swim Page 7 American Red Cross Affiliated Residents Only Learn to Swim Level Descriptions Parent & Tot 6 months - 3 years of age. This is a time for you and your child to enjoy the pool area with other parent/tot participants. An instructor will be available to help answer questions; this is a guided play time with your child. Preschool 3 and 4 year olds will be in the water without a parent. Level 1 Instructors will help child adjust to water focusing on child comfortably performing swimming skills with assistance. Level 2 Introduction to swimming in the larger area of the pool and performing most skills without assistance. Level 3 Children will perform floating and swimming completely on their own. Upon passing Preschool Level 3, child would progress to Level 2 (see below). Level 1 Introduction to Water Skills. Children will learn floating on front and back. They will also learn the arm and leg movement for both front and back crawls. Must be 5 yrs. old Level 2 Children will continue to build up their stroke strength focusing on rotary breathing with crawl stroke. They will also work on improving their kick and backstroke. They will need to be able to perform these strokes for 15 meters to pass this level. Level 3 Children will continue to perfect crawl stroke and back stroke while building endurance to be able to swim the entire length of the pool with proper strokes. They will need to be able to perform these strokes for 25 meters to complete this level. Level 4 Focus will be stroke improvement with crawl stroke, back stroke, and introduction to breast stroke and side stroke. Children will continue to build endurance to swim the strokes for 50 meters to complete this level. Level 5 Children will continue to build swimming endurance with focus on breast stroke, side stroke, and an introduction to butterfly. They will need to be able to perform these strokes for 75 meters to complete this level. Level 6 Focus on stroke refinement for all strokes and endurance work. Students will focus on swimming 500 meters of multiple strokes without tiring. They will need to be able to perform these strokes for 100 meters to complete this level.
