Block Schedule • The Block Schedule makes Palos Verdes High School unique. • 6 periods divided into alternating days • A Days- Periods 1, 2, 3 • B Days- Periods 4, 5, 6 • A/B Calendar for the year is on the school website: pvhs.pvpusd.net • Zero period meets every day for 55 minutes from 7:00-7:55
Benefits of Block Schedule • Time to do real-life, meaningful activities(hands-on projects and labs) • More time for student-teacher interaction • More time for test-taking • Prepares students for the longer SAT and AP tests • Develops students’ time management skills in preparation for college

College Testing Info • NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (Class of 2018) • Based on PSAT Score- 1.5 million high school students take the test • 6 National Merit Semifinalists • 1.1% of all students fall into this category • 6 National Hispanic Scholars • 5,000 out of 250,000 that take the test • 35 National Merit Commended Scholars • 3.3 % of all students fall into this category
