School Vision CHAS. HENDERSON ACADEMY 2020-2021 Vision Chas. Henderson Academy prepares all students for success in college and careers. We empower students to solve problems, collaborate and explore their creative potential. Core instruction in literature, STEM programming and the arts, accelerates students’ academic achievement. Critical thinking, language acquisition and communication skills are essential tools that support mastery of CCS and NGSS embraced at Henderson. Mission At Henderson, Students are supported in a socially and emotionally safe environment. · Teacher teams diagnose areas for growth, plan for interventions, and progress monitor to ensure consistent growth and student achievement. · Teachers use multiple strategies to inform and support instructional delivery. · We are committed to delivering high quality, differentiated, data driven instruction daily. · All teachers and staff focus on meeting the needs of each individual student. 8
Looking back on SY20 What did the school aim to achieve and what did the school achieve SY20? Henderson continually strives to achieve significant growth and attainment (grade level performance) in ELA and Math. During SY20 Henderson earned Well Organized status of the school’s Culture and Climate. Additionally, Henderson ended SY20 with an Attendance rate of 95.3 almost meeting the yearly goal of 97%. We accomplished hiring high quality Diverse Learner teachers are every grade level, and during SY21 have hired an ELL teacher to support English Language learners. Finally, we have continued our partnership with the Achievement Network to ensure that all scholars have access to high quality standards based assessments. 9
We are in this together! Since the start of the pandemic, Henderson has distributed over 200 devices. Together with the district, Henderson has distributed 7 $100.00 gift cards. We have provided families and students with over 225 book bags, filled with school supplies and age appropriate books. Parents have come to the school to retrieve diapers, household goods and we have served meals to families daily since March, 2020. 10
SY21 SQRP Status ● Our school entered SY19 with a School Quality Rating of Level 2. ● Due to COVID, all schools are rated as “Inability to rate” this year ● However, Henderson made significant growth in attendance from 93.2 % in SY19 to end at 95.3% in SY20. 11

Continuous Improvement Work Plan Priorities ● Henderson’s Priorities are: ● INSTRUCTION, STRUCTURES FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, MTSS & FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ● Strategies implemented to improve in all areas include: ● Continue school wide professional development weekly that focuses on MTSS and Collaborative sessions refine key models of instruction (GRR, Backward Design and LLI) while staff participate in District and Network 11 PD. During SY20 we will continue to participate in summer learning with Teachers College of NYU NEW! Teachers are providing weekly assessments in CheckPoint, analyzing and monitoring performance data on a quarterly Assessment reporting tool. ● We want to ensure scholars meet and exceed growth and attainment goals projected. 19
Focusing on HS and Post-Secondary Success ● HENDERSON SCHOLARS in grades 6th, 7th and 8th work with the School Counselor weekly to discuss ● High School and College choices and opportunities ● Career Options ● Post Secondary aspirations ● Complete Interest inventories 20
Your partnership is critical ● PARENTS YOU ARE NEEDED ● Please make sure your child comes to class daily, on time, prepared to work and learn. ● Join classes weekly ● Speak with child about his/her daily school experiences ● Work with the child’s teacher to ensure student success on school tasks and assignments ● Conference with the School Counselor and principal to learn about more opportunities for your child’s success. 21
