January . January is the month of new beginnings, new attitude and new changes in life. This month brings with it hope of renewal and starting again. So, it was with this message of newness that we started this year.
Resolutions and Celebrations… New Year Assembly (January 5, 2021) January started with a bang with New Year celebrations in our assembly. On January 5, 2021, the students of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum held a New Year Assembly. The students made presentations about their resolutions and promises. They drew pictures, prepared quizzes and presented power points for the occasion. It was a joyous beginning to the New Year of 2021.
Hindi Hain Humara… World Hindi Day (January 7. 2021) Hindi is our National Language and we should be very proud of our Rashtrabhasha. So, the students of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum were proud to organize and present assemblies completely in Hindi on January 7, 2021. They presented prayer in Hindi, sang Hindi songs, dance, conducted Hindi quizzes and organized Hindi presentations to show how proud they are as Hindi speakers.
Explore and Exhibit… Explorica Video Presentations (January 5 to 8, 2021) Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum decided to go ahead with the second season of Explorica Exhibition virtually. Students were asked to choose a topic from any subject and take a video of them presenting it. Due to the enthusiastic efforts of children and parents, days were allotted for video presentation of their efforts class-wise and subject- wise. Every day, students, parents and teachers came together, tuned into zoom meetings and watched the efforts and explorations of their children come alive on screen.
Smile together… Special Themed Assembly Day – Smile (January 12 2021) A special assembly with the theme ‘Smile’ was conducted by the students of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum on January 12, 2021. Quotes, funny quizzes, drawings and presentations of why smile is so important and laughter exercises were done by the students.
Explore away… Explorica 2 (January 12, 2021) Finally, it was time for Explorica Exhibition Day. The main aim of this exhibition on January 12, 2021 was to instill curiosity, innovation and research in learning. The Chief Guest Mr. Amal Dev J, DST INSPIRE Fellow at National Centre for Earth Sciences inaugurated the function and addressed the gathering.
The highlighted exhibits of students in Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum were presented. Selected videos were also shown. Students dressed up as Legendary Personalities representing each subject brought their contributions alive and generated curiosity amongst students.
Shining celebrations… Assembly celebrating Pongal, Makar Sankranti and Lohri (January 18, 2021) It was indeed a special and festive assembly that took place on January 18, 2021. It was to celebrate the harvest festivals of India that mark the movement of the Sun. The festivals are known by several names throught India like Makar Sankranthi, Makara Vilakku, Bihu, Meghi, Pongal, Lohri and so on. To celebrate this Unity in Diversity, Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum students presented information about these colourful festivals, danced, cooked pongal and spoke about how though India is varied, we all still share the rich culture and traditions of this beautiful county.
Time to talk… Open House Meetings ( January 19, 2021) The results of the PT3 exams were published and the report cards sent to the parents. It was time for the teachers and parents to speak on feedback they had in their ward’s education and marks secured in PT3. Timeslots were allotted for each meeting where parents could meet with the class teachers in their zoom ID and speak about matters of their child’s education and how online learning has affected them.
Salute to the Soldiers Indian Army Day Assembly (January 19, 2021) The Indian Army is one of those institutions that have shown unquestionable bravery, honour and integrity in service to the nation. The students of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum proudly saluted the soldiers by presenting assemblies in tribute to them on January 19, 2021. Presentations about the sacrifice made by Army men, how they are ranked and what weapons they use were shown along with drawings and details about Kargil War and Army Day were shown in the assembly. Quizzes were also conducted
Dreams of Equality… Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Special Assembly (January 21, 2021) The students of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his ‘I have a Dream’ speech by focusing on the values of Equality. Presentations with details of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Movement, his influences and impact were presented along with details of what Equality and different types of equality mean. Quizzes, reenactment of the famous ‘I have a Dream’ speech were also done.
Acting out… English Skit Extravaganza (January 23, 2021) The acting talents of our Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum students were in full display in the English Skit Extravaganza competitions held virtually on January 23, 2021. It was a housewise competition and was judged by Ms. Vineetha and Ms. Padmaja who were external judges. The patriotic fervor and love for our nation was out in full force amongst our children. It was also the time to display the acting and editing skills of our students. The students also showcased their talent, ingenuity and resourcefulness which elicited some creative results.
Indianness at its best … Indian Republic Day Celebrations (January 26, 2021) It was now time to unfurl the patriotic fervor in all of us Indians. Republic Day celebrations kicked off with a school- wide Republic Day quiz competition, conducted through Google Forms. Even with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, our school came together to celebrate our nation as a republic on January 26, 2021 We organized and conducted mass drills, group songs, skit competitions and also, unfurled the Indian flag.
The tiny tots of our school dressed up as legendary personalities from our great nation like Bhagat Singh, Kittur Chennama, Madame Bhikaji Cama, Mahatma Gandhi and so on. The results of Skit, Hindi Sugama and English Skit competitions were announced. Grandparents of Sabarigiri International School Trivandrum students who served the nations as veterans of the Indian Army, Navy and Air force were honoured during the celebration.
Nation first… Assembly on Martyr’s Day (January 29, 2021) Students of Sabarigiri International School, Trivandrum observed Martyr’s Day with a special assembly honouring Mahatma Gandhi and the Martyrs of our nation on January 29, 2021. They did presentations, sang songs, danced, played musical instruments, drew paintings and made posters in honour of the brave men and women of our country who have sacrificed themselves for the nation.
