What a year to be finishing primary school! 5/6 H have been so lucky to be able to participate in gala days, Toronto High school orientation days and also run an amazing fun day for the school! Last week we celebrated our incredible graduating class of 2020 at Toronto Swim Centre. They were dressed to impress and had an absolute ball. Principal’s Report TERM 4 WEEK 10 THANK YOU! I would like to personally thank each and every person associated with Arcadia Vale PS and the wider community for their commitment, dedication and support of the wonderful students at our school during the most difficult year that we have all been involved in. We have all shown resilience, flexibility, patience, cooperation and understanding during 2020. YEAR 6 CLAP OUT—WEDNESDAY 16 DECEMBER We will still hold our Year 6 clap out on Wednesday afternoon at 2.45pm. This will be held in the lining up area. Each student can have a maximum of 2 adults attend to watch the clap out. In the event of wet weather, check our Facebook page. STAFFING We welcome Mr Madden, Mr Ford, Miss Meek and Mr Cole to the Arcadia Vale community in 2021! Unfortunately, Miss Healy and Mr Cole will be leaving us at the end of this year. We thank them both for their dedication and commitment to our students, school, community and wish them well for their future endeavours. CLASS STRUCTURE We are excited to announce our “new’ class structures for 2021. The classes will be as follows: Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 (all straight classes), a 5/6 composite class and our Multi-categorical class. SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE—HOLIDAYS There will be workmen on site during the holidays to undertake maintenance and upgrade work in C Block (formerly known as the Hall). We are also scheduled to have a new fence installed around the boundary of the school. This is planned to begin during the holiday period as well. Further information will be provided to everyone as it arises.

BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION We are in the process of developing a ‘Learning Resources’ pack for the students in 2021. A cost will be advised in early 2021. These resources will have all the essentials they need for their learning and they will be updated (as required) throughout the year. SCHOOL HOURS AND ACCESS TIMES Our school hours are 9.15am—3.15pm. Morning supervision starts at 8.45am. If students arrive early, they are to sit on the driveway or undercover area and wait for the morning bell. UNIFORM SHOP Our uniform shop is open on Thursday mornings from 8.45am-9.30am. The uniform shop has moved to the office and the entrance to the uniform shop is at the back of the office, along the path and up the stairs, there will be signs next year.
Principal’s Report TERM 4 WEEK 10 STARTING DATES 2021 Kindergarten: Kindergarten Best Start assessment dates will be on Friday 29th January, Monday 1st February and Tuesday 2nd February. Mrs Fawkes will advise our new Kindergarten parents of times to bring their child in for these assessments. Kindergarten: First official day—Wednesday 3rd February 2021 Years 1-6: Students return to school on Friday 29th January 2021 STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS 2021 Term 1: Wednesday 27th January and Thursday 28th January Term 2: Monday 19th April Term 3: Monday 27th July Term 4: No staff development day, students return on Monday 12th October TRANSPORT TO AND FROM SCHOOL, DROP-OFF ZONES Buses will run as per schedule up until Wednesday 16th December 2020 and resume service on Friday 29th January 2021. AVPS UNIFORMS URGENTLY NEEDED If you have any spare AVPS uniforms that you no longer need for your children, we would greatly appreciate any donated items of uniforms. Our stock of second hand uniforms is extremely low. We desperately need skorts, dresses, shorts, jackets, shirts etc So if you have any spare uniform items that you need to get rid off, please hand them into the office. Could you also wash and return any borrowed clothing that your child has worn home from the office. We are running out. THANK YOU!!!!! AVPS OOSH
P & C News Term 4 TERM 4 WEEK 10 The P&C Committee would like to thank everyone for a huge 2020—it has been a massive year for our students, community and amazing school staff. “ I think there are these moments of a crisis that give us the courage and encouragement to try something that actually may be better than how we were doing it before”. What has worked well for the P&C: • Zoom Committee Meetings (with excited students getting involved at home) • Ongoing commitment from the committee members able to help whilst at home • Online ordering for the canteen • Online raffles did amazing with a massive profit! CHRISTMAS RAFFLES This was an electronic raffle drawn by Raffle Link. Congratulations to the lucky winners of our Christmas Raffle: BREAKFAST CLUB This has finished for 2020!!. A big thanks to Nic Hughes and to Allison Heffernan for their ongoing support and donation throughout the year. Thanks to a $1000 donation from Allison, the Breakfast Club has lots of supplies for 2021! CANTEEN Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers this year!. Looking forward to seeing many more of you next year. We need volunteers 3 x days per week for 3 hours a day. All volunteers get a free lunch but better than that, you get to see the smiles/joy of the students when they see their MAGS/DUGS in the canteen.
