NEWSLETTER NO. 2 FEBRUARY 24, 2021 BASS COAST SS NEWS BASS COAST SPECIALIST SCHOOL Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Bass Coast Specialist School, I don’t know how you feel but I cannot believe that we are already half way through the term. First of all I would like to thank you for all your support during the short, sharp recent ‘circuit- breaker’ lockdown. We really appreciated how quickly you and your children were able to adapt, given the extremely short notice of the school closure. Janine and the Junior team have been helping the students develop their math skills exploring the wonderful world of shapes. Soon the students will be exploring time. I love to sneak into the Junior area and see what magic they are creating. One day I hope to get an invitation from the students to join them for story time because that looks like fun. Kathy Z and the Middle team have really been making the most of our lovely weather and surrounds. They have a very busy program with lots of maths and literacy during early in the week with excursions, gymnastics and swimming closing out an action packed week. The staff and students are quite excited about the ‘Sailability’ program starting soon. Nathan and the Senior team also have a very exciting and action packed program that enables the students to learn and apply the skills they have developed in a very practical way. The activities help to keep the students motivated as they experience a direct link between what they learn and how to apply it in real life situations. It’s wonderful to see the students developing their communication, teamwork and problem solving skills through their participation in hospitality, horticulture, outdoor and art, as well as working on the farm and exploring the options that are available to them when they eventually leave school. It’s great to see all our programs up and running, the students are loving the variety of activities. I feel so privileged to be able to visit all the classes and see everyone working so well together. Keep an eye out for the photos on our Facebook page and Newsletters. Take Care.
