A Few Things To Note Regarding
Email Security
“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, who masquerade as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for
even Satan masquerades as an angel of light. So it is not strange that his ministers also
masquerade as ministers of righteousness.”
2 Corinthians 11:13.
Today this same struggle that Saint Paul spoke of has found a new tool in email and digital
technologies. Scammers will regularly use email or text messages to trick people into giving
them personal information or money. Many times these emails appear to be coming from
someone you know or trust. Recently you may have received emails claiming to be from
Father Declambre or other church staff. The parish staff want to alert parishioners to be
suspicious of any emails that claim to be from church staff requesting money or information.
Below are a few things to look out for to help you recognize phishing attempts.
1. They may look like they’re from someone you trust but the from email
address will not match the real email address. Official email from Daniel Kedinger

sent from @shbroussard.org addresses.
2. They often tell a story to trick you into clicking on a link or opening an attachment.
3. They may have a generic greeting like “Hi Dear,” or “Hi Old Friend.”
4. They ask for you to send money, help with emergency financial hardships, or to purchase of gift
cards on behalf of someone else.
If you encounter one of these emails please confirm that the email was sent by someone from the Sacred Heart staff by
emailing or calling them directly. Remember that Fr. Declambre or anyone from the church staff will not request money
directly from you by way of email. Don’t forget to be as “shrewd as serpents and simple as doves” Matthew 10:16 when
dealing with technology.

Funeral Food Ministry
Sacred Heart has provided food for funerals for many years. This is a unique and appreciated ministry
serving our parishioners at a difficult time. This ministry, chaired by the Ladies’ Altar Society, allows the
family to receive food from our community in the Parish Life Center or their home after the funeral services.
To ensure the viability of this ministry, volunteers are needed to assist with meal provisions. Anyone who
can provide a dessert or monetary contribution, please let us know by filling out the information below. A
member of the Ladies’ Altar Society will call you when there is a need. In the past, most individuals were
called upon no more than four times per year.
