Brisbane Festival is back! Get in on the action when Brisbane Festival explodes across the city from 8-29 September. This year’s program is brimming with big name acts, more world premieres than ever and a spectacular new light-and-laser river show that will illuminate Brisbane for 22 days of celebration. Featuring theatre, music, dance, circus, opera and major public events, the program has a mix of free and ticketed events across 17 of Brisbane’s leading entertainment venues, including South Bank, QPAC, Brisbane City Hall, Riverstage, Queensland Conservatorium and Brisbane Powerhouse. With nearly 600 performances and close to 70 shows to choose from, there’s something for all audiences and ages. The signature festival on Brisbane’s calendar will be capped off with the Sunsuper Riverfire on Saturday 29 September – a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the city. Breeze through Brisbane on the new SpeedyCat Get ready for an even faster trip on the Brisbane River with the new SpeedyCat express service. There will be more than 100 peak-hour SpeedyCat services per week, including services to UQ St Lucia, West End, Guyatt Park, North Quay, Riverside, Teneriffe, Apollo Road and Northshore Hamilton. Not only will SpeedyCats shave around 19 minutes off the travel time between Northshore Hamilton and Riverside, they will almost halve the travel time between Teneriffe and Riverside. Meanwhile, passengers will be able to go from UQ St Lucia to North Quay in as little as 15 minutes. Celebrate our diverse community Council is honoured to support the Brisbane Pride Festival and Brisbane Pride Fair Day on Saturday 22 September, from 11am at New Farm Park. Now in its 27th year, the Brisbane Pride Festival is Queensland’s largest and Australia’s third-largest LGBTIQA+ event, attracting more than 10,000 festival-goers over a four-week period in September each year. It’s an inclusive, community-based celebration that has grown to encompass a rally and a parade through Brisbane city streets, culminating in the fair at New Farm Park. As Australia’s New World City, Brisbane is a great place to live, work and relax – it’s a safe, vibrant, green and prosperous city enjoyed by a diverse and proud community. The ICB westbound has been widened to four lanes between the RNA tunnel and the Legacy Way portal, and the ICB eastbound to four lanes between the Legacy Way portal and the Herston Road exit. Brisbane Metro Construction starts 2019 The future of travel Next year construction on Brisbane Metro gets underway, but what will the new public transport solution mean for you? TELEGRAPH ROAD UPGRADE NEARS COMPLETION The new four-lane bridge on Lemke Road and the reconfiguration of the intersection at Telegraph, Depot and Lemke roads are part of the final works @ameens on the Telegraph Road upgrade. Once complete in late 2018, the upgrade will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, helping you to get home quicker and safer.
