Let s travel the world For the past three years I have been yearning to go on another overseas holiday. There is something invigorating about shaking things up, immersing yourself in a different landscape and creating life-long memories. I’m sure many others feel the same and, like me, it’s not always possible to travel far from this great country because of time constraints, finances, family and work commitments or political environment. As the 2018 Season began taking shape, I realised that we had fabulous productions touring to the region with international origins and themes. Then it occurred to me - our journey starts here. We can sit back and relax in cushioned armchairs in the air-conditioned comfort of our Theatre and travel the world. With the 2018 Season, together we can journey to Moscow, Paris, Italy, Japan or even to Wonderland (where Alice is heading) and the good news is you don’t have to travel alone. In fact, we are launching our FAB Club (Friends and Buddies) a scheme where you can request to be seated in a section where there will be other ‘solo’ travellers. It’s a great way to meet someone new, make friends or, at the very least, have someone to chat to at interval. One of the reasons we are able to bring quality national and international productions to the region is because of our loyal Sponsors. Our Gold Sponsors, David Payne Constructions, Laser Electrical Dubbo, Astley’s Plumbing and Hardware, and our Season Launch Sponsor, Kings Hall Jewellers. We are thrilled to welcome another two Curtain Raiser Sponsors, BAWD Property Trust and Brennan’s Mitre 10 who join our dedicated Paula O’Leary Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre. I encourage you to journey with us and explore the benefits and flexibility of a theatre subscription. Your theatre ticket is your ticket to travel the world at a fraction of the cost – let the adventure begin. LINDA CHRISTOF Manager, Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre 4 5

COMEDY FRIDAY 23 MARCH, 7.30PM The Wine Bluffs Presented by Hey Boss, Adelaide A comedy wine masterclass with Damian Callinan and Paul Calleja. Ever wondered what wine goes best with Fairy Bread? Why hasn’t the ‘Champagne Spider’ caught on? These questions and many more will be inadequately answered by the self-styled sommeliers of comedy, Damian Callinan and Paul Calleja. After intoxicating sold out shows across the country, The Wine Bluffs are here to do what they do best: bullshit about wine. Laying spurious claim to a reputation as renowned wine consultants, the duo, fresh from judging the Fruit Wine Section at The Rockhampton Show, will take you through the cellar door experience with a comedic twist. They’ll help you match wine to Chiko Rolls, translate over-written bottle blurbs and identify the biggest Wine Wanker in the room: if you have a wine fridge set on two temperatures... it’s probably you. DRAMA TUESDAY 3 JULY, 7.30PM Letters to Lindy By Alana Valentine Produced by Merrigong Theatre Company (Wollongong) in association with Canberra Theatre Centre (Canberra). A mother’s loss. A nation’s obsession. Filled with humour and heartbreak, this stunning work by award-winning playwright Alana Valentine (Parramatta Girls, Head Full of Love) explores the public’s relationship with one of 20th-century Australia’s most iconic figures. The story that captivated a nation. A mother accused of murdering her child, her claim – that the baby was taken by a dingo – denied and discredited by zealous police and a flawed legal system. The media circus, the rumours, the mob mentality, and a nation’s prejudices laid bare. From sympathy to abuse, letters from children and letters from those who have lost a child; these letters traverse the gamut of human response to Lindy’s story. Letters to Lindy draws on this correspondence, as well as extensive interviews with Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton herself, to create an enthralling, moving, and long overdue dialogue between Lindy and the nation. CONCERT SUNDAY 16 SEPTEMBER, 2PM Julian Gargiulo Direct from Carnegie Hall Presented by Tenacious C Presents, Sydney Expect to revise any preconceived notions you have about classical music when internationally acclaimed Steinway Artist Julian Gargiulo makes his Dubbo debut, direct from Carnegie Hall! The man with the fro-like mane wanted to be a rock star when he was a kid but he grew up to become a classical pianist instead. But, as he says, “my hair kept dreaming.” Described as “Saturday Night Live with a piano” with “a marvellous non-stop flow of pure Woody Allen-ish wit”, the Italian-American performer will hold you spellbound as he takes you through a stunning concert program. It will include Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Rimsky- Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee but not forgetting the usual suspects Beethoven and Chopin in-between sharing his life stories and experiences from stages around the world. DRAMA TUESDAY 25 SEPTEMBER, 7.30PM AND WEDNESDAY 26 SEPTEMBER, 11AM Julius Caesar By William Shakespeare Produced by Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Brutus is suspicious. Cassius is conspiring. Caesar’s days are numbered. Loved by the people, Caesar’s power is growing – which is dangerous if you live in a world driven by ego and idealism. Those that rise too fast must be dealt with. For the good of the country. For the good of those who wish to be rulers themselves. Julius Caesar is Shakespeare’s political thriller, a masterpiece of intrigue and treachery. Stand witness to the assassination that leads to a life and death struggle for power in the Republic. Citizens mutiny, Mark Antony schemes, and the fate of Rome hangs in the balance. Bell Shakespeare’s Associate Director, James Evans, will direct a production that’s seething with rage, leaving audiences breathless at how quickly violence reveals the fragility of democracy. Starring Kenneth Ransom (Gods of Egypt, Belvoir’s Prize Fighter) as Caesar, and featuring an ensemble cast including Ivan Donato (Richard 3), Emily Havea, Louisa Mignone, Nick Simpson-Deeks and Russell Smith, this production will tour to 27 venues around Australia.
