A Message from Fr. Sebastian’s Desk: The Beauty of Christmas Night Christmas is here. It is a day we all have been looking forward to. It is the day of redemption coming through the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, which the universe was looking forward. But the night Jesus was born was just like any other for most of the world. Except for the shepherds in the outskirts of Bethlehem, it was a night as usual. For them, it was a real celestial night filled with angelic music and an annunciation like that of Blessed Virgin Mary; in the case of shepherds, the annunciation was, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased” (Lk. 2:14). The visit of the angel to Mary reminds us of the visit of God to different women of the Old Testament: Sarah, mother of Isaac (Gen 18: 9-15), Anne, mother of Samuel (1 Sam 1: 9-18), the mother of Samson (Judg 13: 2-5), etc. All of them announced the birth of a son with an important mission in God’s plan. The miracle of John the Baptist’s is given to Mary as a sign and Mary submits herself to the Will of God. The angel’s greeting: “Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favor, the Lord is with you!” is familiar and similar to the words said also to Moses (Ex 3: 12), to Jeremiah (Jer 1: 8), to Gideon (Judg 6: 12) and to others with an important mission in God’s plan. Although very practical, she comes out of the initial shock and wants to understand. The angel answers: “Do not be afraid!” Just as it happened in the visit of the angel to Zechariah, the first greeting of God is always: “Do not be afraid!” That message is ringing in our ears today as well. Mary is aware of the mission which she is about to receive, and its implications for her. The angel explains that the Holy Spirit, present in God’s Word since the creation (Gen 1: 2), is able to realize things which seem impossible. This is why the Holy One who will be born of Mary will be called Son of God. And the angel reassures: “Nothing is impossible for God.” Mary yields before the message of God when she realizes that it is from God: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me according to your word. The mission of Jesus was to be a servant of God, and to serve. Wishing Everyone A Very Merry Christmas! Fr. Sebastian Augustine, CMI Administrator
Spiritual Communion Prayer My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, Come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there And unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen. Y unirme totalmente a ti.

¡Deseándoles A Todos Una Feliz Navidad! Padre Sebastian Augustine, CMI Administrador
