The Encyclical letter Laudato si’:
a platform to rethink education
and social planning
The Italian Catholic Action acknowledged the
Encyclical letter as a priceless tool to rethink
and to regenerate our ordinary social education
and our local activities.
The reference to “ecological conversion” and to
integral ecology has been included within
educational paths and tailored to every stage of
life: children, adolescents, young people and
adults (ACR summer 2017)
An engagement to a deeper reflection has been
taken during the last years, through the
organisation of conferences and seminars by
cultural institutes and journals of Catholic
Action.
Sustainability Report may be considered as
another important result in this context. It is a
process to evaluate social and environmental
impact, which is undertaken at the national
level, but with the perspective to be adapted at
the local level by many dioceses.Initiatives for Laudato si week Youth sector in the diocese of Treviso The Catholic Action in Naples, in cooperation with Social and Work Ministry and Policoro Project Reading and comment of the Encyclical (Adults of CA in Milan)

How is AKM Malta living Laudato Si week? Weekly formation meetings in groups are still being held online (for young people) and this week are focusing on Laudato Si. Adults of AKM are maintaining contact, seeing that everyone is thought of and taken care of. This morning: international online meeting for island nations (participating: Australia, Tonga, New zealand, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Malta) Friday meeting with Prof Paul Pace on Laudato Si and the Covid-19 Pandemic Ongoing work within Secretariat for Social Assistance - taking care of the most vulnerable and most affected by this pandemic.
How is Laudato Si fundamental for
formation within AKM?
Weekly formation meetings in groups - building a community where you realise that you are a
precious son/daughter of God who loves you, form lasting bonds with other people, deepen
your relationship with God, recognise the needs of other people, take actions to help other
people.
Learning to take care of the environment of your meeting place and choose resources to be
used for activities to lessen waste and use environmentally-friendly materials.
Fostering an inclusive environment within our groups
Last year’s annual summer camp (AEffect) was completely based on Laudato Si and so will this
year’s
Moving away from use of single-use plastic during activities
Reuse of old materials such as unsold t-shirts from different summer camps, turning them into
bags/bandanas
Investing in sustainable energy such as solar panels on AKM properties
Investing in holistic care of the person through Secretariat for Social Assistance
Ongoing formation focused on building a society which is more just.
During a delicate situation with migrants lost at sea, we joined forces with other NGOs to
issue a statement on the protection and dignity of every human being.ROMANIA

Comment l’Action Catholique vit la semaine de Laudato Si’
BURUNDI et comment Laudato si’ est fondamental dans la formation

A l’occasion du 5ème anniversaire de l’Encyclique du Pape François, une semaine « Laudato
Si’ » a été organisée Caritas-Burundi et Caritas Bujumbura, sous le haut patronage de
l’Archidiocèse de Bujumbura, en partenariat avec une série de partenaires regroupant les
membres de l’AC.
Il est envisagé de méditer sur l’appel du Pape François adressé aux chrétiens et à tous les
hommes de bonne volonté, quand il dit :
« Le défi urgent de sauvegarder notre Maison commune inclut la préoccupation d’unir
toute la famille humaine dans la recherche d’un développement durable et intégral, car
nous savons que les choses peuvent changer ».
Il n’y a pas deux crises séparées, l’une environnementale et l’autre sociale, mais une seule
et complexe crise socio-environnementale… (Il faut) une approche intégrale pour
combattre la pauvreté, pour rendre la dignité aux exclus et simultanément pour préserver
la nature ».
L’objectif de la semaine est de proposer aux communautés locales une réflexion pastorale
éclairée par les bonnes pratiques issues de leur vie quotidienne et provenant du domaine
de l’écologie intégrale et de la conversion écologique.Comme agenda de la semaine, des activités accessibles à un plus
grand nombre de personnes, provenant de tous les âges et
culture, ont été planifiées. Il s’agit de :
17.05.2020 : Animation d’une conférence de presse (publique et médiatisée) pour le lancement de la semaine au Zion
Hotel.
18.05.2020 : Vulgarisation de l’Encyclique « Laudato Si’ » sur Radio Mariya Burundi.
L’émission a été coanimée par le Prêtre Secrétaire Général de Caritas Burundi et les représentants des Mouvements
d’Action Catholique.
19.05.2020 : Conférence publique à l’intention principalement des Grands Séminaristes de Bujumbura, sur :

Moments récréatifs avec les jeunes actifs dans les associations de protection de l’environnement à la paroisse de
Ruziba.Effets attendus de l’approche formative des activités de la semaine (sensibilisation, réveil des consciences, etc…) : Concrétisation des plans d’action des mouvements d’action Catholique dans le domaine de la protection de l’environnement à travers des actions concrètes, par ailleurs traditionnelles, comme la plantation des arbres pour le reboisement. Les prochains camps de travail organisés par les divers mouvements d’action catholique vont sans doute mettre la priorité sur ce thème. Dans ce sens, l’Encyclique « Laudato Si » occupera une place importante dans les prochains forums des jeunes (diocésains et national).
