“The Lord shatters the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; His intentions can never be shaken. What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people He has chosen for his own.” Psalm 33:10-12 Welcome to our worship of the risen and ascended King of kings and Lord of lords on this Memorial Day weekend. We reflect on the wonderful freedom we enjoy living in this country. We know it comes to us at a tremendous cost of those who served and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. You are invited to a brief Memorial Day service in the cemetery tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. There are still a few items up for grabs in the Fellowship Hall-please have everything removed this weekend. Anything remaining tomorrow (May 31) will be disposed of. Join us next Sunday, June 6, to celebrate all of our recent graduates. Cupcakes will be served in the Fellowship Hall following our worship service. Please return your Baby Bottle next Sunday, June 6. Online giving is still an option: rumriverforlife.org/donate or with the GivePlus app. Let’s help them reach their $20,000 goal by joining area churches in filling 800 bottles ($25 each). The Life Choices Center appreciates your support! 4th of July Teams: Please meet briefly next Sunday, June 6th, after church. Activities team meet in front of the Sanctuary on the East side, and Fireworks team meet in the Fireside Room. Next Tuesday, June 8, is our Global GEMS Day 5K Walk/Run! At-Home Faith Formation Tip—The Practice of Prayer: When praying with children, try this kid-friendly version of the ‘ACTS’ model, replacing Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication with these prompts: “God, you are…”, “I’m sorry for…”, “Thank you for…”, “Please…”. For more on faith practices from Faith Formation Ministries, visit: crcna.org/FaithFormation/Practices). I need to add an additional request for prayer as I also have breast cancer. Within the next 3 or 4 weeks I will be having surgery for both of these cancers. At this time I do know the color cancer surgery will be fairly extensive, but I don’t know much about the breast cancer. I really feel the prayers and know you will continue to offer them for Denny and I. God is so good. Thank you again” ~Denny & Marian Beier Calendar for the Week Sunday, May 30 9:30 a.m. Morning Worship 2:30 p.m. New Members Class Monday, May 31 9:15 a.m. Memorial Day Service-Pease Cemetery Upcoming Events • Graduate’s Celebration: Following worship Sunday, June 6 • Elders and Deacons meet Monday, June 7, 7:00 p.m. • Full Council meets Monday, June 7, 8:30 p.m. • GEMS 5K Fundraiser: Tuesday, June 8, 5:00 p.m. • Cadets Campout/Canoe Outing: Friday, June 11-Sunday, June 13 • Rocky Railway Vacation Bible School June 21-25 • Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks: Saturday, July 3
Cane Pole Fishing and Service Project Day About 40 Cadets with many dads and granddads flooded Lake Shakopee catching at least 140 in three hours on a beautiful morning last Saturday. After a grilled hotdog lunch under the pines, the club pulled up their sleeves for two service projects. Thank you to those providing the boats, fishing expertise, opportunities to serve, and a great lunch...with gratitude to God—Pease Cadet Club & Counselors. (Left) Cane Poles do have their limit, especially when they meet a lunker pike, as Logan Ash demonstrates. (Above) Counselor Dennis Kiel fishes with Cadets Leo and Otto Hjort.
