Cavendish Primary School– A Rural Tradition of Excellence 1 Cavendish Primary School 23/07/2021 NEWSLETTER ISSUE 22 8-10 Barker Street Ph: (03) 55742282 Fax: (03) 55742353 (PO Box 28) Email:cavendish.ps@education.vic.gov.au CAVENDISH VIC 3314 Website: www.cavendishps.vic.edu.au Principal’s Notes: Dear parents and friends, Well, the lockdown for the State of Victoria is continuing! Hopefully this means we are back to face-to-face teaching next Wednesday 28th July. Yesterday, the teachers all had class meetings on WebEx, it was wonderful to see and talk to the students again. We have scheduled another WebEx meeting for next Monday with our class groups at the same times. I know the children are really missing being with their friends and classmates. It is an opportunity to catch up, share news and connect with each other. The children are doing a wonderful job in their remote learning tasks. I know it is not easy juggling your own work and assisting your children in their school work. So, families please take a moment each day to say well done and know that you are supporting your children incredibly well. We held our School Council meeting online Wednesday night with all our councillors in attendance. We have had to postpone a site visit with the architect twice now due to restrictions, so we are still waiting for our final plans for the stadium upgrade. Today, we had new laser light put on the covered in area next to Miss Purnell's room. It has made a huge difference to the area with more natural light coming though. It is also UV protectant which makes the area SunSmart for play times. Thank you to Karl Price for organizing this. After discussions with the School Council and Mr Hill, we have decided to postpone his afternoon tea to say thankyou due to restrictions. We will now make a formal farewell to Mr Hill at the end of year presentation night. Mr and Mrs Hill are now safely back in Victoria after enjoying their travels but were much happier when enjoying the warmer Queensland weather. We are still in the process of advertising for a classroom teacher to teach in the Year 5 & 6 room. Mrs Bell has been doing an outstanding job with the Year 5 & 6’s but she would like to enjoy her semi-retirement more, so she will be returning to her tutoring and art roles. Mrs Bell will continue teaching the year 5 & 6s till this role is finalised.
