MARINE EDUCATION INFORMATION PACK
Marine Education Tour Information
Cicerello's Fremantle is home to the largest Private Aquarium
in Western Australia!
Our 20 world-class aquariums hold over 80,000 litres of water
and house many local marine animals in conditions as near to their
natural environments as possible.
Each aquarium is a little different from the other.
Our main tank replicates the marine environment off local
Fremantle waters and is home to an array of creatures
including Sea Cucumbers and Port Jackson Sharks.
If you have a look around our tropical aquarium,
you may spot both Nemo and Dory.
Also be sure not to miss the tank containing some less friendly
creatures of the sea!
Cicerello’s has been conducting school aquarium tours for over 15 years.
Our tours serve as safe, fun, educational and interactive!
Our experienced staff have first aid training, police clearances
and working with children permits, so you can rest assured that
students are in safe hands!

Marine Education Tour Timeline
Touch Pool and Marine Presentation 30mins approx.
Activity is held inside Cicerello’s next to main aquariums
Students are seated for an interactive talk about our animals – from the deadly
Lionfish, Starfish, Sharks, Sea Horses and everything in between! Students participate
in a ‘Hands on’ encounter with our marine animals like the Port Jackson Sharks,
Starfish, Sea Cucumbers, Sea Apples and more!
Starfish and Sea Apples placed on the tables for the students to hold and inspect
Guide will remove Crayfish from the aquarium, take around to each student to
touch and view up close
A Crayfish moult in a display case and Port Jackson Shark eggs will be examined
Guide will remove Port Jackson Shark from aquarium and each student will get the
chance to have a close encounter and feel the shark
Specimens in containers will be displayed
Students walk around the aquariums to view all the different types of fish and
other sea creatures
Beach Combing Rules
Guide will give the students some rules to follow during the beach combing exercise.
For example, do not enter the water, beware of Blue Bottle Jellyfish, needles
(syringes) if found are not to be touched.
Beach Combing Activity 30mins approx.
Activity is held outside at Bathers Beach
They join our Aquarium Managers for a Nature Discovery Beach Combing exercise along
Bathers Beach, only metres from Cicerello’s (weather permitting). Here the students
locate and identify debris washed ashore – Sponges, seaweeds, Sea Urchins, shells,
corals and sea grasses are all a common find.
Students are given approximately 15 minutes of discovery time to search the beach
for specimens. They then place these specimens in the circle provided.
Specimens can range from cuttlefish, coal, coral, sea lettuce, kelp, Dead Sea
Urchins and rubbish.
Students then gather with our Aquarium Manager to identify and classify the
group’s collection and find where it originates.
Marine pollution is discussed and the effect it has on the marine environment is
explained, as well as helpful hints on how you can help reduce your own impact on
the environment.
Lunch 60mins approx.
Lunch is held inside Cicerello’s restaurant
Meals are served approximately 5-10 minutes after tour has been completed
Groups depending on size and weather, will be seated within the restaurant or our
Upperdeck.

Aquarium Tour is available only with a meal package (with the below exception)
Cicerello’s encourages alternative lunch arrangements for students with food
allergies and it is recommended that children with any allergy or intolerance
bring their own lunch on the day.
The cost for students bringing their own lunch will be $4.25 (tour only)
Drinks are not included in the package price. We encourage students to bring
their water bottles with them on the day. Alternatively, drinks can be purchased
separately on the order form.
Booking forms received without confirmation from the Excursion Coordinator will
not be accepted.
Bookings and punctuality is essential – Groups arriving late may have their tour
cut short.
Teachers, Parents & Carers are responsible for providing sunscreen and hats for
the children.
The Aquarium Manager reserves the right to change excursion activities on the
day, depending on weather and/or time constraints of the group.
Tours can be taken Monday to Friday at 10.00am or 11.00am only - the tour time
requested will be subject to availability.
School groups require a minimum of 15 students – Special needs groups require a
minimum of 10 students.
Cicerello’s actively encourages adult attendance & participation. We will provide
a 10% discount off all menu items ordered by any parents/carers or school helpers
on the day.
Payment is strictly required on the day of your arrival and is accepted by cash,
school cheque, Visa or Mastercard - on the day or over the phone.
Payment is now accepted by EFT
o Payment is required prior to your booking.
o We DO NOT accept payment after your excursion.
o Additional costs are to be paid on the day.
o Refunds will be given on the day in cash or via bank transfer.
*All Teachers and Education Assistants supervising students will receive a
complimentary Fish Basket and Coffee from our onsite Café!!
Please let us know how many staff will be accompanying the students on the day!

Fish basket can be substituted for any of our standard kids meals;
(chicken tenders, pineapple fritters or crumbed fish basket),
