Your mission 2021 Lift ARIS to the next level Build up on the projects EULER, HEIDI, TELL, RHEA, IRIDE and... 1. Fly a rocket with 4kg payload as precisely as possible to 30‘000ft (9144 m) and recover it. 2. Win the Spaceport America Cup in the 30‘000ft SRAD category. 3. Increase the reliability, predictability and flight performance of ARIS‘ launch vehicles
Your mission 2021 Mission objectives Develop & test a rocket Win the Spaceport Provide a baseline America Cup 2020 for the next team Document from the beginning Document from the beginning Continuously save your The report is key for awards and 50% of the points knowledge, best practices and lessons learned for the next team Maximize the scoring Fail, succeed and talk about it design build test Challenge your design early, test it rigurously and let others know – accumulate knowledge & share it 30‘000ft Transfer your knowledge Pass on your experience your successor team – so they 3 reviews with Full system Develop & present one innovative feature outperform all previous industry partners launch in Europe Focus on one feature to win technical awards
Your mission 2021 To launch a sounding rocket ... Validation launch to 5‘000ft Apogee Val de Ruz, Switzerland, March 2020 As precisely as possible at 30‘000ft Full system test launch to 30‘000ft Potentially in EU or US, March/April 2020 1st recovery event Coasting / Aerobraking Separate rocket, break ballistic Full sytem launch at the Spaceport Control the rocket‘s flight, deploy drogue parachute America Cup to 30‘000ft altitude during balistic flight to slow down & stabilize descent New Mexico, USA, June 2020 by deploying airbrakes, velocity > Mach 1 Burn 2nd recovery event Student researched and Deploy main parachute 200m developed hybrid engine, above ground to deccelerate acceleration ~10g below 9m/s Ground Station Data up- & downlink to rocket and payload, system status Touch down Launch control external Land (softly) on the ground and send position of touch Standby/lift-off down to the ground station Rented launch pad for recovery
Your mission 2021 Mission features Integrate a 3-5U CubeSat Payload experiment from external partners (HSLU, ETH D-PHYS, ...) Build up on EULER‘s design and adapt it for hybrid engine integration Focus on reliability and predictability by extendended simulations, validations (Wind Tunnel) and test launches Do not re-invent the wheel, but be creative and give the new rocket your personal touch! à Short design phase of 1 Semester !! à Big support from ARIS veterans (EULER, HEIDI, TELL, RHEA, IRIDE)
Your mission 2021 Workload estimation The rocket project is intense, not always easy. We promise that it is a great experience and you will grow immensively in this year.
